DNS list and possible changes

Hi,
Because of the current talk about SeNuke I thought the terms of the DNS (do not share) list might be changed to be more useful.
I don't know the owner of SEnuke so this is not related to him.

I see the list is growing day by day and I wonder if the members of the board who are protected by the DNS list are active or any use for BHW.

My suggestions:
a) add the owners nickname to the DNS list, so people know who to talk to and who it is
b) Only accept a DNS request if the member is not a youngster in BHW. This can be decided without hard rule. General aim should be to only protect software of people that are of use for BHW. Someone lurking around without thanks or reputation or posts is probably just abusing the membership as free software protection.
c) Only keep software no the DNS list if people are still active on the board (same reason)

In genereal the list is good, I'd take my leave from BHW if people would happily share my software and expect nice play from my side.
But I think inactive people should not benefit from it.

Essential has established rules like this, I'm sure they'll be swiftly enforced.

"Note: Please do not join this forum for the sole intention of having your item added to this list. Your join date and post count will be taken into consideration. If you have a post count of <5 and have been a member for less than 14 days, do not even bother. If you are inactive on this forum for 30 consecutive days, your item will be removed from this list."

You also make some good suggestions.

Some people may also want to stay anonymous but to still have their product on the DNS list. It may increase their sales as users may contact them in relation to the product but selling via PM on BHW isn't allowed anyway so it shouldn't make a difference. Agree with #3 though

If sharing is not allowed at all then we do not need a DNS list.

I could life with that, with no sharing at all that is.

It would be better for the board most new people that come true SE looking for these shares are leeches anyways and only post request like it is a warez forum, no real contribution.

I have sad it before and i'll stick by it, close up the download section there are so many sites where you can get the downloads and the quality of the posters will get higher imho.

One addition I would like to see to the DNS list is to post each product individually. For example, 'All Bodeezy software'. Although I have been here at bhw for awhile, I do not know every product he offers. I am not trying to single Bo out but I am just using him as an example.

A search page would also be welcomed. Enter the title into search, it could tell you if it is on the list and by whom it was put there.

The DNS list should be used to protect members work....


Sharing copyrighted material is asking for legal trouble and attracts the 'can I have a review copy' and 'noobie basher' type of members.



If it were up to me, I'd prefer the download section was split into three new sections;

1) A product review section.
2) A member bespoke applications/scripts section (custom built free apps), where member can earn kudos.
3) An eBooks section.


It would be nice if these were organised into sub categories, i.e. link building etc...
