When I had my site done about two years ago, I thought I may have been put it in it. Since I took over the site upkeep, etc... I noticed it either ran out or never was. Is it worth my time to get listed or don't worry about if you have been around this far?

I heard one of them is a real bitch to get into and the other is/was being discontinued.

D'oh! So, dmoz no worry either too?
Sorry about that. The end of the year time waves mushed my head. Apologies.

Funny I should run into this thread as I was messing about with a Market Samurai earlier and it made me think about DMOZ submissions. From the limited research I did it seems as if it really isn't worth worrying about anymore; limited amount of reviewers/moderators there now and not given anywhere near as much weight as it used to be.

Nothing worth worrying about.

C'mon I am still learning. I made a faux pa or however one spells such a word. I believed that these overlooked directories were low hanging easy fruit to chase. Now, I learn they rotted all away.

I am a slow learner. I estimate I will only declare myself a guru by Valentine's Day and show how using old geocity pages make a Death Star sized PBN and make a real WSO of the Millennium. Till then I am afraid I can only err. But thanks for your patience and help. I do appreciate all you do for me.

Have a pleasant evening and a Happy New Year's.

I would not bother. I have taken reverse action and bought many expired domains with dmoz and yahoo listings. The results were rather poor. Definitely, not worth it.

i see :) thanks for the advice. all along i thought DMOZ was the must have.. :)

If DMOZ didn't matter then domain sellers wouldn't be pimping DMOZ listed domains for premium prices. Sour grapes in my opinion. If it is hard/expensive to get into then it has value.

DMOZ was Google's "seed" in crawling the WWW. They would get the DMOZ dump and start crawling from there. Which made it valuable for SEO.

They abandoned it years ago and now DMOZ is just a link, still a valuable link though and definitely only helps, but is not as important as it was 10 years ago.
