Hi guys, years ago people in SEO circles used to tell me that I should try and get sites listed in DMOZ for some link juice.

Does anyone still bother trying to get their sites listed on there? I seem to remember that a lot of the time, links were either very VERY slowly reviewed (if at all) on there.

People submit all the time, but good luck getting listed. Besides it doesn't carry the weight it did back in the day. At one time google used to seed there crawls with the dmoz database, but nowadays I seriously doubt that's the case anymore.

you can submit but gooduck getting approval. it is not as useful as it used to be

i read google already admitted they don't treat dmoz as an authority anymore, it's 'just another directory' (ie. worthless).

also as it takes years to several lifetimes to get listed, practically you will not live to see the benefits of being listed there, if there were any.

you can bribe an editor to get you in there (common tactic i heard).

however once again, worthless.

Directories are still just good for link diversity, but not worth losing time or sleep over.
