dmoz editor needed

I'm looking for a dmoz editor or a guy with contacts there to speed up submissions of some sites.

I once had 4 editor accounts there. I totally stupidly logged in over time using the same IP and they screwed me into the ground. When I got the accounts initially - I dont think they checked IP's.

The editors of the various categories are listed at the very bottom of the corresponding DMOZ pages. Look at the bottom of the pages as you descend the trees. At the lowest levels you will see many categories asking for an editor to volunteer for that section. Those categories can be very dead areas as far as getting new listings, because nobody is minding the store. You have to ask a higher level category editor about those areas, and you may or may not get a response.

What I try to do is to choose some category that has a live listed editor to include my website. If there just isn't any compatible category with a live editor, you are probably in for a very long wait, so be somewhat creative.

I have contacted editors successfully before, but you have to be very, very nice. Extra nice. Like you are visiting the Pope asking for a favor. You also have to wait a decent interval, like months, before you go prodding them. Dmoz is very clubby, arbitrary, and everyone knows how valuable a listing is to gaining a sites SEO reputation, so they tend to be very choosy. I'd venture to say that 95% of sites or more are never going to be accepted by these editors, because they don't meet dmoz standards.

You will note that they do not include affiliate sites as well as a host of other things we might do here, like cloaking. You will be also be surprised to realize that your adult site might be a candidate for inclusion.

All white hat sites and only looking for most appropriate category placement. All have glowing reputations, endorsements, press, unique and popular content and all are 7-15 years old, and all are PR6-8. Willing to footer link as well as part of gift. I'd have to do them one at a time over 2-3 months to fit in my budget.

$1,000?!? Sounds crazy to me. It's not like it means a guaranteed #1 in G.

In most online retail keywords dmoz is usually the determinant for #1 in G. Its big bucks going into Q4. If you know what you are doing it is a significant advantage toward taking #1 and keeping it (it also depends if the editor screwed you or helped you with the link text). And technically the full offer for all the sites was $15,000. Problem is that the appropriate categories for my sites are being managed to keep competition out... Some niches are potentially so valuable I'd bet they are owned by the mob. I'd imagine a modern day mafia would be all about leaning on dmoz editors. Its why google should devalue their backlinks or dmoz should make them all no__follow to drive out the corruption. Until then DMOZ is being leveraged as a weapon against my sites in the SERPs by spammy retail sites that blatantly violate anybody's standards.

DMOZ is useless this days, websites listed in DMOZ in categories I care about not even in top 30, so the real value of the link is very little. It's the same as any other link farms. Don't waste your money, for $15000 you can buy good SEO services that work.

I was amazed how many DMOZ editors owned adult sites. Same with Google forum mods and admins - some of the biggest ones there own adult sites - one guy (A german chap) runs the sort of site that would make a Marine blush.
Not that i've got a problem with that, just seems a little incongrous for these "holier than thou" places to have senior members in the adult industry.
