Divide post in pages

Hello guys,

I'm not sure this is the best sub-forum to ask this question, but I wouldn't know where to do it anyhow. I was wondering if dividing a post in multiple pages in WP is good seo-wise. I believe people would go through all the pages if they find the content a bit interesting but I'm not sure how it works on its SEO.

What do you think?

Very good for SEO. Drives down your bounce rate, and increases the time on site and visitor engagement.

Thanks for your answer! I was thinking the same about the bounce rate and visitor engagement, but do you think that if someone searches, for let's say, the KW that the post talks about, would the page authority be divided by # of pages instead of going all to the same page?

What you're talking about is called "Pagination". It also has the benefit of allowing different advertising for one article, since it's dived into multiple pages.

It'd be preferential obviously if you had backlinks to the first page of each article, which would in turn then divide authority or rank to the other related pages.

Each page/post will target the keyword that is on the page and in the headings and title. It will not carry over to the second page,it will target according to its on page seo.

I usually use one page focused on a main keyword, and the second page focused on another.

There would be carry on of link juice internally unless it was specified not to follow. Less than the originating page, but still page authority (at least from my understanding of PA and not PR)..

Went to post a webmaster link, but the forum rules blocked me from doing so. Anyway, it is discussed in webmasters/answer/1663744 at google support.

Just google pagination canonical to find it.

If you have a specific question, ask it.

The rel tag for next\prev with very little doubt in my mind, wouldn't prioritize search results, prior to keywords and content "relevancy" of a user's query. Add it, as it wouldn't hurt I'd think, but I don't buy the we do a good job, but here's how to improve our accuracy just in case you choose to split up longer content BS.
