Hello everyone in the group!
I'm new here and have recently started learning about dropshipping. However, as I dug deeper into the business model, I came across several major challenges that made me question whether it's still a good opportunity in 2026.

1. Many people say dropshipping is declining in 2026.
I've seen a lot of opinions claiming that dropshipping is no longer suitable for beginners or people with limited capital.

2. An uneven battle against Temu, Shein, and TikTok Shop.
  • Factory-to-Consumer model: Companies like Temu and Shein have optimized their supply chains to the point where they can ship products directly from Chinese factories to customers in the US and Europe within 5–7 days at extremely low prices.
  • Loss of price advantage: Traditional dropshippers often source products through intermediaries such as AliExpress or CJ Dropshipping and rely on markups for profit. In 2026, customers can simply use Google Lens or AI-powered image search to find the exact same product and realize they're paying 2–3 times more.
3. The end of the "De Minimis" tax advantage in the US and the EU.
  • Stricter import policies: In the past, shipments under $800 entering the US were generally exempt from import duties. By 2026, new regulations have significantly restricted or removed this advantage for many low-value e-commerce shipments in an effort to curb the influx of low-cost imports from China.
4. Customer Acquisition Costs (CAC) have reached record highs.
  • Advertising has become much more competitive: CPM and CPC continue to rise in major markets such as the US, UK, Germany, and Australia as large brands invest heavily in AI-powered marketing.
  • Traditional advertising no longer works: Simply running a copied short-form video with Facebook ads is no longer enough. In 2026, success requires working with local influencers (KOLs/KOCs), creating authentic review content, and building a real brand that customers can trust.
5. Local warehousing is becoming essential.
  • To remain competitive, many dropshippers are shifting toward a semi-dropshipping model: first testing products, then stocking a small inventory in third-party logistics (3PL) warehouses in the US or Europe so orders can be delivered within 2–4 days.
These challenges seem to be making dropshipping much more difficult than it used to be.

I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts and experiences:
  • How are you adapting to these changes?
  • What strategies are still working in 2026?
  • What practical advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Thank you all for taking the time to read my post. I sincerely appreciate any advice or insights, and I hope we can learn and grow together.
