Discussion: Is there a solution for these annoying issues?

However, is there something more annoying than people having to comment "thanks", "thank you", "feeling cute, might check later" instead of smashing that Like button which shows gratitude towards the OP?

Perhaps I wouldn't have found that thread had the last person not commented. Nonetheless, I'm not really pissed off since I now know about new backlink opportunities.

I get that it's a forum and people interact with each other, yet there's nothing helpful, nor valuable in increasing your post count by saying two words. When you like someone's post, he/she knows you liked it and enjoyed the content.

Regarding this issue my only suggestion would be to make the Thank button (when pressed) bump the post automatically - And to make this not exploitable, the Thanks given could be undoable (who takes back his likes?)

Posts like those are actually against the rules, more specifically rule 3.5.

3.5 engaging in post count inflation by posting excessive amounts of short replies for the sole purpose of inflating your post count. This includes the infamous “thanks for the share.” . (If you’d like to say “thanks” to someone for their effort/contribution, make use of the Thanks button).

I normally go through threads like those and remove any instances of post count inflation that I find, however some of them get missed. It's much more useful for members to report the opening post of the thread and mention that the whole thread has post count inflation in it. This helps us know to go through the entire thread and clean it up.
