what does Discovered - currently not indexed mean in the search console ? and how can i fix it ? i submitted my sitemap almost a week ago and none of my pages have been indexed just stuck at Discovered - currently not indexed

it means that the googlebot has "seen" your links / pages that it's referring to, but has not indexed them yet (for various reasons that may, or may not be under your control).

If you've tried everything to index the said links / pages that the googlebot has discovered but nothing worked then you can't do anything else to index them because it's up to google at this point.

Things you could try (in no particular order) to index the troublesome URLs...

- submit sitemap to google and rely on google's good will (apparently you've done this already)
- build some internal links to the "discovered - currently not indexed" URLs from RELEVANT pages on your sites that are already getting traffic
- get some social signals to those URLs from aged and active social media accounts (twitter, facebook, instagram, pinterest mostly)
- mention those links on UGC sites (quora, stackoverflow, reddit)
- mention those URLs in a new post of a google news-approved site that gets indexed fast (within minutes or hours)
- submit those URLs to paid indexers (speed-links gets good praise lately, along with lindexing, omegaindexer, and a few others whose names I don't remember)
- rewrite the content to make it high quality and remove any trace of AI generated content from those URLs, if there was any AI-generated content to begin with (apparently, the last week's update from google has targeted AI-generated content from the saying of the forum's members, so you might want to rewrite that content in your own words)
- build few quality links to those URLs

Thank you so much for the detailed response I'm registering as we speak on speed links to trying there service out Thanks!
most of my content is scraped from other sites and ran through WORDAI to be rewritten so that could be it most of the backlinks my domain has are pretty old and refer back to pages that no longer exist

EDIT : just submitted the links to speed links will report back with the results!

yep, sounds like a plausible reason. But also know that google takes a lot of time to index stuff lately, this has been going on for several months already, so even if your content is top notch quality it might still take month to get indexed. So, don't despair if it won't index fast :)

well, that's not good... it's not good for your site's authority, I mean (especially if those backlinks come from good sites). The indexing of your "discovered - currently not indexed" pages will not be affected by those non-existent backlinks, so don't worry in this regard. But if those backlinks are good you might want to recreate the pages they point to, on your site, and then 301 them to the homepage at least

The backlink profile is pretty amazing we are talking cnn newyork times etc.. so you would suggest lets say a backlink is referring to mysite.com/xyztest i would recreate mysite.com/xyztest and redirect that one to my homepage ? would it work to just add a general rule to redirect 404 not found to my homepage or must recreate the page itself ?

yes, you need to recreate the exact URL that the backlink points to. Whether or not you need to put content on that URL I'm not sure, but the URL needs to exist....

Actually, the RDs are good enough to warrant trying to recuperate them, so open up a thread on the forum and ask for the right way of doing this because my knowledge is limited and I'd hate to be the one who tanks your site

will do that thank you so much for taking the time you have been of great help! cheers broski

i don't honestly think it is a matter of optimizing anything i submit for indexation manually and they get indexed what is going on
i can't manually request index for 3000pages :/ any ideas ?
so far submitted two pages manually and got them indexed no problem
