I have tens of pages like this, some dating back to as far as August.

I'm really so frustrated with it as I'm not sure what to do anymore? The content is unique, long and with media included most of the time.

And the worst thing is, there's no rule to this. Some content added in the same period has been indexed and ranking well but other is nowhere to be seen.

Some pages from September got indexed just last week, some pages from this month got indexed in days. There are not many differences between these.

What can be the cause? What's the solution?

I've been reading about RankMath's Instant Indexing plugin but I don't wanna risk anything with Google as it's my money site.

I've heard opinions that I should build more links to the homepage, anyone can relate?

Links won't help you much with indexing.

I know, it's kinda unpredictable but what worked for me:
1. Manually submitting for indexing
2. Making a few tiny changes (if any) and saving thus updating modification date... helped with indexing by simply modifying the date.
3. Some people will advise you to improve content... wrong... your content is not crawled so google doesn't know if it's good or bad, so there's nothing to improve.

Promote your site on social media. If it doesn't improve in a few days, use bookmarking sites.

That status means Google is aware of the link but hasn´t crawled it and, therefore, indexed it yet.

According to the ContentKing App website, Google´s Indexing Process is as follows...

1e6d1865639d92312957de01e7a3610d.png

So, we need to be sure Google is crawling those URLs prior to being indexed.

The reasons why those URLs haven´t been crawled or indexed can be due to a few reasons....
  • Thin or low-quality content
  • Poor internal linking structure (Poor site structure)
  • URLs NOT present in the site´s index sitemap
  • Robots.txt file not properly optimized
Once you checked and clear all those elements, take some time to review that list of URLs to ensure no important pages are listed and, If many pages are listed, it could be a sign of quality issues on your site as a whole.

Also, be sure to test each of those URLs using the Live Test tool from the Google Search Console and see if a) the URL is actually indexed or not and, b) if there are any errors.

Lastly, whenever working on a client´s site I´ve encountered the issue where I checked each of those URLs running a quick search in Google using the "site:" operator to double-check whether or not it was in fact indexed and many times the URL was indexed but, on the Google Search Console, it wasn´t. If this is the case, you can always request a manual indexation from the URL Inspector Tool.

Cheers and stay safe!

this is a really comlex issue, i had exactly the same problem,

it was & partly still is a nightmare.

i was using semi duplicate content, what i was doing was using part duplicate content on multiple pages, but making it so that google did not see it as duplicate content, i cant tell you exactly what i was doing, but it was working on multiple sites.
then i did it on one site & it did not worl.
the thing is it could have been cause by multiple issues, & it was probably cause by all of them.
i was also changing a lot of pages, so when google came to crawl the site it was finding 404 pages because i had changed the urls & semi duplicate content, so it would not crawl or index the pages, it was also in a very difficult niche (known as a "spammy" niche)
so i changed all the pages that had semi duplicate content to unique content & very very slowly google started to index all the new pages (same urls but with unique content)

you say "The content is unique"
but that was what was stopping google crawling my site. (duplicate content)

"Discovered - currently not indexed"
i found after incessantly monitoring what google was saying in google search console & what it was actually doing are not the same thing.

in google search console if you click on "sitemap" on the left then click on a few libks it will show you the pages it is indexing,

then if you go
site operator command
site:www.ebay1.com

you can see the new pages it is actually indexing, they were not the same in my experience,
so google was saying in google search console that it had not indexed any new pages, or it had indexed 3 or 4 pages, when i checked the site operator command it had indexed a lot more pages,

but it just completely couldnt be bothered to crawl the site for months because it was finding 404 pages & semi duplicate content that was not working this time, until i put the unique content on there,
it still hasnt indexed all the pages, but it is a gradual process,

you can submit a url that has internal links to loads of other internal pages from within google search console,
but i found that didnt really work, it was putting loads of new unique content on there, (does not have to be long or fantastic grammar at all - just unique, otherwise googlebot stops coming back & even when you change the content to unique it might not crawl the page for months because it has already done it before & found it was duplicate content each time.) & eventually google will crawl the site.

but put some mew pages on there with unique content & check the site operator command

Social Sharing is the option for You, share your page on social sites with a good and relevant piece of content. try manually indexing your pages on indexing sites, get high-quality links, try getting links from news sites, it always wor fast and well.

I keep trying the stuff posted in this thread but to no avail so far.

I'm wondering if this can be caused by my hosting? I stumbled across this article: https://searchengineland.com/siteground-googles-crawling-and-indexing-issues-fixed-375991 this keeps me thinking, maybe it's something to do with the host? But apparently the issue is fixed now.

This is so frustrating...
You’re still not indexed?

is this a new domain that you have made all of the content for or is it an expired domain?

Many have had success with getting their site approved for Google News. Consider that because indexing is same day with Google news websites.

Mate, I've been running the site for 2 years. The problem started occurring around August this year, and there's no rule: some pages are getting indexed in weeks and others are waiting months without a result.

regarding hosting issue, there's some posts on google central where a hosting company hosting their blog on a dedicated server with unique ip having the same issue. So I wouldn't blame hosting for this.

Sadly, there's no clear fix to this problem. Something changed in Google and they are not letting us know.

It has something to do with crawl budget, and url slugs. Sometimes content, but sometimes not, so it's unclear.

The ones who did find a fix are either banking on the solution or keeping it for themselves. Or maybe no one knows how to fix it.

One funny thing I found, is a website from Income School guys who they always mention in their videos is not indexed also. I mean they have over 50 high quality articles, and only 4 or 6 of them are indexed. The website is over 4 months old, and I've been checking weekly for the last 2 months. Not a single change.

I've just noticed that as many as 98 pages "need improvement" in terms of Core Web Vitals and the issue started around July so around the same time as my indexation problems started.

Now I vastly improved the site performance with WProcket and I pray to God it resolves the issue.

i was going through the same thing, very very frustrating, i put some "better" content on the site, google is now crawling & indexing some of the pages, but very slowly,

in google search console it says it has indexed some pages that were not submitted through the sitemap.
i think this is because it found the content was better, & googlebot decided to come back more often because it found the content was better, but it is still only indexing a few pages at a time, when there are thousands of pages, but some are still the old pages which are "semi duplicate content" because it is taking so long to replace all the pages.

when nothing was happening & i was tearing my hair out because google wouldnt index the pages, i just kept adding the new pages with better content & eventually google started crawling & indexing the pages.
so you should get your pages indexed eventually,
try internal linking as well, that is supposed to help, but when i did it ir had the opposite effect,
all the pages that were being indexed had no internal linking, & the pages that had really good internal linking, the vast majority were not getting indexed.

the site has no manual penalties etc.

keep adding more unique content & submitting sitemap to google

type into google multi url ping list & all the new pages you add submit them to the ping list

one other thing, have you got a conflict between any 2 or more plugins on your site such as
allin one seo
google sitemaps
yoast seo ?

because if you have then it might be bringing up an error message telling you that the sitemap is not working etc

that was one of the things i thught it might be, & turned off any conflicting plugins apart from one sitemap plugin
