Discover Host when WHOIS shows protected?

    Hey, I got a pal, who hasnt been a pal at all, and Id like to know whos hosting his site... is there a way to find this out? Whois shows the domain name to be protected?

    If the sites been around awhile, you may be able to check the history of the WHOIS, privacy hasn't been available for that long. Just google it and you might find some extra info.

    Of course. Visual way to do that is by using

    You need to enter his domain into prefrom connection test text box and click start. After a while graph will be filled up with boxes showing ips and various hostnames. The last box onto your left will show ip and most likely hostname of his provider.

    http://whois.domaintools.com/domainname.com Then click on the "Server Stats" tab. Look at "IP location", it'll show where it is geographically located as well as the company (hosting provider) who owns that particular IP.
