Discord customer service data breach leaks [Please Read]

As reported by The Verge, Discord has announced that one of its third-party customer service partners was recently compromised by an "unauthorized party," who Discord states was attempting to "extort a financial ransom."

While the hackers did not gain direct access to Discord, some users' data was impacted by the breach—specifically, data shared with Discord's Customer Support and Trust & Safety teams, including government IDs provided for age verification.

Discord stated in a press release that anyone impacted by the breach will be contacted soon via email. The types of data potentially at risk include names, Discord usernames, email addresses, contact information, payment types, the last four digits of credit card numbers (but not CCVs or full credit card numbers), purchase history, IP addresses, messages shared with customer support, and "limited corporate data."

Gone are the days that you only needed a password and email. Now you need 2fa, mobile, biometrics, and digi ids, all of which seem to be getting hacked stolen, copied and used on a regular basis around the world! lol.
 
Let's also remember to thank all those geniuses who want to impose on us, or who have imposed on us, under the pretext of protecting children, the requirement to hand over our identity documents to social media platforms, which will then end up in the public domain.
 
Wow, that’s worrying. Even without direct access, any third-party breach can leak sensitive info. Stay alert!

Actually, I'm more shocked it wasn't an adult site age verification that was hit first.
 
This isn't really surprising, but I appreciate the heads up about it as I didn't know it happened. I generally just go into things now thinking that all this information I'm submitting is going to be leaked at some point.

This is what people who are sceptical of mandatory ID verification for basic interactions are most fearful of, been seeing everyone say this for so long. Something similar happened to a forum cantered about women and their issues (with men?). No surprise that it happened but now people have to be wary of some potential identity theft or something. Too much stress for no reason.

But anyway, this is very annoying. I personally never used Discord customer support unless buying nitro counts. Good thing I did so a long time ago now. My condolences to everyone effected. Always do everything in your power to keep your real identity safe.

And nothing helps because the site itself got hacked.

Boomer forms which say I have to create these insane passwords are so ridiculous if you know that the site is gonna get hacked anyway at one point.

Well this would explain why all the sudden discord contacts me and tells me that my account's limited so 2027 because a server I joined, was found to be fraudulent. I never joined waiting room whatever the fuck that is but instead of these assholes telling me that there was a possible data breach my account may have been compromised they decided to limit my account I'm sure so they can watch it but I don't give a fuck someone should have told me.
