Over the past few weeks YSiteExp. is reporting only 1/3 of my regular backlink totals to my domains. Not sure whats going on with this but domains that had over 500 backlinks are showing up having less than 100 backlinks.

Iv checked all my domains and the story is the same for every one of them. All of them are showing 1/3 the total number of backlinks i had 2 weeks ago.

I used SEO Spyglass then verify it using site:domainname.com at Yahoo. The totals match Seo Spyglass so its not the tool that reporting discrepancies.

Anyone else noticing huge drops in the # of backlinks being reported?

Probably the site owners are "cleaning up" the links. I'm assuming you did ScrapeBox/blog comment blasts?

If your backlinks are from blog commenting, here is one possibility:

Some blogs have a recently commented widget active on their site. When you place a backlink in a comment, this will be propagated to all the pages containing the widget. I've seen this happen on one of my sites. I placed a comment with backlink on the blog. Two days later YSE! showed over 600 links coming in from the main site. I went to check and sure enough my blog comment was on every single page through the "Recent Comments" widget. Those links remained for a very long time, until eventually was bumped off the list.

Just a possibility.

Hope you find the issue,

If you have blog comment links this is common. Heres what happens. You post a comment with your link int. Your comment appears on every page of their site in their recent comments widgett. You now have a sitewide link. Could be hundreds or even thousands of links depending on how many pages the site has. More comments come in from other people and your comment gets bumped off of the recent comments. Yahoo re-indexes and you show less links. Nothing to worry about.

You beat me to the punch. I agree.

I understand that and i have some blog comments that show up like that as backlinks but im talking about profile links, single page blog comments. I even have a resource page that has hundreds of links on them coming in from many other sites. Even those are not showing up anymore. Dont really get whats going on.

Run this query and you will find scores of people complaining about this so im not too worried. I was right though, Yahoo is having some issues with their data cause there is no way that i went from 500 backlinks to only 9 in 2 weeks and yet my site ranks #1.

Mine went from 300 - 1000 Inlinks. It's fluctuating like crazy.

Same problem here. I started building links again and they are starting to show up in yahoo site explorer. So I guess after awhile you lose links....just how it goes I suppose
