Disabling whatsapp channels

I guess If you're using whatsapp, you may have noticed the channels feature, I did research to lookup if there's any option to disable it but I couldn't find anything, So I'm asking here If anyone have a solution around that ? WA is the only communication app I'm using & I don't have any personal social media accounts, and having those news channels popping up on my WA against my will, feel very intruding.

If you are on Android, and until WhatsApp forces to update, you can find an old apk and use it instead.
