So, recently, there have been a ton of shilling accounts that are bumping threads in the marketplace asking for trials, coupons, and review copies to increase the number of posts made by those accounts. The free bumps are lovely; I am not gonna lie, but I strongly believe that disabling the post counts on the marketplace (just like the lounge) would really help solve this issue and make BHW a better place.

This has been suggested a couple of times recently. Here are the responses to those threads:
Kept this open to see if there were any further views.

Far from it, we actively remove and ban account farms constantly, the membership as a whole just don't get to hear about it as it's all the outstanding work of the mod team. Where we're able to link thread-bumping accounts to the seller, that seller is warned once and then banned after that if they continue to use methods that promote their services against the terms, thus putting their account at risk. We have several improvements coming in 2024 for the marketplace which addresses this further.

Where merchants on the marketplace are currently offering free services with a call to action of post in their thread this is the correct and acceptable way for now. We often find that they will ask for multiple services and when the merchant doesn't get back to them quickly they may already have taken on an alternate service.
Essentially. If you offer a review service don't believe you're the only merchant they will reach out to, try and treat them as a paying customer and act quickly as members have plenty of alternatives on the forum and will go elsewhere.

So the way we look at content from members (and we've written about this in the past many times) reflects if you'd want to buy from them / work with them or not. Using the scenario - If you are buying backlinks on the marketplace and you have got it down to 2 merchants. Merchant A's content all around the forum is purely about hosting and what they did last weekend, Merchant B has been helping members answering questions (not with "join me on telegram" or some other off-forum links) but with genuine engagement for the community to read and listening to constructive feedback in a professional and engaged manner then you're going to buy from Merchant B. Essentially your thread is your shop window your content is your shop floor. Now when it comes to those asking for review copies ask yourself who am I going to give that copy to, an engaged individual or a habitual "free stuff please" poster? The more engaged the member the more likely you are to get a decent well-thought-out review that aligns with your priorities. Another benefit of the forthcoming marketplace is we will give merchants better feedback reports and scores on how we'd rank those asking for your freebies in return for a review so you can pick a member to review your service that has displayed better knowledge of the topic in which you're posting. A win-win scenario, more engaged users get better review opportunities from high-quality and engaged sellers.

This applies if you want to work with them members in JV or for that matter any work you want to do with them.

So in short will we be changing how we allocate post count in the marketplace? No we already have a strong system with improvements on the way.

Even if we removed post count from the marketplace, sellers would still do this in order to bump their thread to the homepage and top of the subforum. We can't disable all 3 of these features, and as long as one of them is active, sellers will keep bumping their thread every 72 hours for promotional purposes or every 24 hours to reply to potential customers.
