What is a right ways to use directory submission site?
What are its advantages and disadvantages?

It makes your backlink profile richer - they gives your website some authority.
It takes somehow long time to be detected by Google for me.
And it's effect not so much.

The only benefit I can see from free directories is anchor text diversification. They won't pass power, because those websites do not have a very strong backlink profile, add the high number of outbound links and little link juice will flow. Instead, there are some good paid directories, however they cost too much in my opinion.

After Google Penguin, most directories' link value went down the toilet

BUT... there are useful directories

These are local directories that list local businesses

Much of their value is through CITATIONS though (name / address / phone number) NOT link
