    Hi,

I used a service on this forum to submit to 200 odd directories and the service was actually quite good. It was obvious from the confirmation emails that my website had been accepted into many directories.

However this was over 6 weeks ago and I have yet to see any backlinks in google analytics or cpanel.

Can anyone advice why this would be the case. I am aware google does not spider the whole site on each visit but I would have thought it would have done this by now on at least 1 of the directories.

    Regards. John.

sign up for google webmaster tools to see your backlinks

also check your backlinks with yahoo site explorer

You probably won't get any traffic from directories, but you will get backlinks eventually

they both will give you different results for the most part

yahoo seems to report more links than google does

also it might takes months before you see any backlinks from directories. Most of them dont get crawled that often, especially if your link is somewhere deep

Use yahoo site explorer. It gives some good information about backlinks.

Links from directories usually takes a lot of time to get indexed. Some do not get indexed at all... make sure that the directories that accepted you site are not just link farms that shuts down overnight

I assume you submitted to free directories. If so, free directories take anywhere from 30-120 days to approve. That's why they're free.

None of the backlink checkers show all your links. Hell, I have a PR 8 backlink that does not show up in Google OR Yahoo.

Instead of worrying whether the links show up in Google or Yahoo, check to see if the page is cached with your link on it. If it is, then your link has been found.

Google webmasters tool will not show most backlinks. You could try backlinkwatch.com. Its a great tool.
