Directory Scripts Advice

Upfront apologies if this is the wrong forum for the post but couldnt find anything appropriate.


I am looking to start a targete d direcotry with a very decent CPC earning potential. While I realise that directory script != money I would stil like to start of on the right foot. To that end could people please recommend an option for a directory script. I will obviously be doing some articles for the SEO benefit so that's a requirement.

Three broad categories:

1) WordPress Plugin
2) Joomla Plugin
3) Standalone
the standalone choices are PHPLinkDir and esyndicate

Now most of these guys cost arouund U$70-U$100 so I'd like to make one purchase only if possible.

Any advice , sepecially from people that have used them, is highly appreciated.
