Quick question: Is posting your site to various directories sites still worth the time?

Not all directory but very few directories are good for your link building purpose. Always remember that always submit different content on multiple sites while you do submission. Focus on only high PR and relevant directories for submission. However directory take a more tome for approval without any guarantee.

posting to a lot of directories will harm more tha help. they no longer carry the juice they once did

Having said that, posting to 10 or so of the top directories is worth while,

Directories no longer works! But I test a website recently with 3+ PR directories (Done 50+). And its works 100% for sure. 3+ PR directories with branding anchor texts as back-links anchors will not harm your website.

In olden days its a Powerful strategy in SEO. But now if we do lot of directories, its a spam.
But there is option that we can submit our website in the top directory submission site (relevant category).
Want to Change the Description for each listing.

It's not worth the time unless you are submitting to DMOZ, Yahoo Directory, and the top paid directories. Aside from DMOZ, links from free directories are largely worthless.
