I am starting a new business.for my business i want to use the direct mail marketing.Please tell me about the advantages and disadvantages about the direct marketing ?
 
One drawback with direct mail marketing is the cost. But as long as you get a considerable ROI, then I guess that would still be efficient.
 
If you are use any affiliate program that condition direct mail marking get good results.
 
Tell us a little more about your business! Direct mail works great for me, but I've got a high-commission product so I can justify spending thousands of dollars each month on postage. Depending on what you do, you may also be able to segment your potential customers to same money. For example: Postcards or being part of a Coupon Book to the General Public; First-Class Postage to pre-screened customers; High Quality Brochures to prospective Partners or Businesses that can refer customers.
 
Disadvantage: People check their email more than they check their regular mail
Personally, I throw away any mail I'm not expecting
 
Direct mail marketing is good idea because there are some benefit here
Quick to produce
Quicker response
Highly targeted
Less competition
More personal
Easy to respond to
Make a list of loyal customers
 
great think about direct mail is that everyone thinks that email marketing is the way to go....less competition both direct and indirect.
DMA.com is a great source. also if you are targeting consumers (prob not) EDDM through the post office is unbelievable....a whole business can be started up using this. Targeting homeowners for .14cents is unheard of.
I only wish you can target only businesses.....
You can also, get a bulk permit...but the guidelines are brutal to understand...I have been to numerous classses and really dont understand it...very complicated.

I have provided direct mail marketing services for many years. I could discuss advantages and disadvantages at length, but for the sake of brevity I'll focus on what I think are the top 3 of each. Top 3 advantages: 1) it is cost efficient...done right the cost/piece can be very low and the ROI can be very high. 2) it delivers results....recent DMA study reported that direct mail is the most effective marketing medium for 18-34 demo (more effective than online) and the over 55 demo...the only medium more effective was call rooms, direct mail stands out from the clutter and it is tangible. 3) direct mail is targeted, with any marketing you need to target with the list you're working with - direct mail uses postal data and you can target with laser-focus with postal data meaning your direct mail marketing will be targeted and relevant , therefore, responsive.
