Sorry if it's obvious, but how do you do this exactly? When I click the "promote" link on any of the products the only links I get are to the sales pages.

There is a trick to do it: http://ID.username_vendorname.pay.clickbank.net
But I'm afraid to get banned if i use this trick because of that i'm asking this question.

You can, but make sure you ask the vendor first as not all allow this.
To link directly to the checkout, use this link format:
In this link:
?1? is the product ID number.
AFFILIATEID is your Clickbank affiliate ID/username.
VENDORID is the name of the vendor.

You can but I also think it does not track your cookies...therefore if they leave and come back, or the vendor sends out drip mails on your behalf your affiliate ID is no longer valid?
Anyway when i was an affiliate I did this with a product and it worked, but I think i lost out on a lot of sales due to the above mentioned

in my experience direct linking doesnt convert well anyway

it seems it doesnt work anymore? in 2022/2023 CB changes the affiliate link to encypted version/ SSL, it forces generation of the aff link inside the affiliate dashboard
