What's the niche?
1,100 - 1,500 in say the Credit niche will cost more than something in the cute kitten niche lol.
Also, where would the banner be placed? Header banners cost more than footer banners because they're seen more. Side banners (which I think yours may be) cost more than footer banners but less than header banners.

You can probably get like $250 - $400 per month if you're lucky.
Tell the guy $500 and see if he bites. If he does then that's awesome.
This way you can negotiate down to where he feel comfortable. And since you started at $500 he'll feel like he's getting a deal if he's only paying like $350 lol.
