We all know Diggity is one of those so-called gurus, and we can't deny the fact that many people adore him.
So, I recently stumbled on his FB ads this morning and decided to check it out. But when I dig more into it, I just found out some of his info are inconsistent and conflicting on each other.
On his latest blog post called SEO Link Pillowing (https://diggitymarketing.com/seo-link-pillowing/), he says there somewhere along the line... "So instead of pillowing with low quality links that can cause penalizations, I stick to what I call Class A and Class B links"
Now when I head over to this post (https://diggitymarketing.com/the-truth-about-link-diversity/), it surprises me that:
a) "Blog comments sucks"
By which he mentions that "What kind of normal person would go to a blog and fill out the “Website” field with someone else’s website?"
AND
"Google doesn’t reward people who create their own links."
AND
"don’t use them… with the exception of when you’re creating links in the body of your comment."
And I was like... what!?!?! Where did all this coming from? If this is true, then what happen to engagement? Surely we don't rely heavily on social signals, right? And if this true, then might as well remove the blog comment feature!
b) Guest posts are in his Class B links
Yet it just happened they're about to launch Authority.builders site, with the sole purpose of guest posting. I have no idea if he partly or solely owns it, or simply endorsing the service, but you get the gist.
What's more funny is that he said, "Although guest posts don’t pack much power unless they’re on the blog’s homepage, I don’t perceive much risk in using them. In my honest opinion, they’re just not worth the time.", when in fact he is endorsing this Authority.builders service. You don't support something that goes against your belief, ain't it?
c) PBN is in his Class A
OMFG! According to him, "It’s no secret that Google doesn’t want people doing their own SEO. They want links to occur naturally from 3rd parties who decide to link to your website on their own accord because these people believe that your content is helpful."
AND
"Class A links are typically harder to get than Class B and Class C."
I am not against that PBN will definitely rank you, but to put him on the Class A, side by side with Authority/Editorial, by which he said that Class A occurs naturally?
PBNs are created with the pure intent of SEO. (Who's with me on that?) No matter how you justify or sugarcoat it, PBNs are for SEO. Some even label this method as Greyhat.
And PBNs are not that hard to get as well. Look how many people selling it here, and how many people are selling on their group as well.
d) Diversity is completely unnecessary if your site is not huge.
I don't think I'm not the only one who disagree this, ain't it?
Although I concur on "trust and link juice gets sites ranking and that can come from as few link types as possible", the most diverse your backlink history is, the better it will pass manual review. It's not just about the ranking, JSYK.
Enough said, what are your thoughts?
