Digg friends question

I am not sure there is a limit. There is a cool down on 20 min after each 50 or so.
What is the point of having many friends on Digg? The shout box is not there any more, and you need to Digg all submissions from powers digger for a while before they even think of adding you back.

I was looking to add friends too,,,but now that you say the Shout button is gone I am wondering if there is a point...

For 2 days I add about 1000 friends which is the maximum. Now I`ll wait 2-3 days and will remove all non-mutual friends. I digg about 300 (again maximum) stories per day too and receive fans. 
I have no point... Just trying... and hope to back shout box

If you really want to be a active digg user then
1. you need aonly 100 active friends
2. alway's digg your all friends submisions
3. submitt one or two story per day from good sources
4. digg around 150-200 stories per day for friends & from recommendation engine.
See the results in just few day's.
