hey

i am thinking about starting a digg sharing site. here is the idea:

  • people register to the site (which will not be indexed by G)
on registering you receive 5 free credits
  • a digg from a member of the site costs 2 credits
  • for every digg you give another member of the site you receive 1 credit
  • so basically, you will submit your content to digg, and then order however many diggs you want. members of the site will receive the link to the content to digg (i still have to decide which member receive the digg order, i think so far it will be a random choice out of whoever is logged in)
  • they will have, say 5 minutes to digg the content otherwise the link expires and they won't get credits if they digg. if the 5 minutes goes by and the user has not digged the content, it is then passed to another member.


if the site gets big enough (more than about 5000 users) there will be very little of the same people always digging each others content, so hopefully no bans


what do you guys think? any suggestions? or is the whole idea whack?

This won't work. I am Power user of Digg. People can't Digg more than 200 submissions a day. Digg will smell the sources, your site can't remain anonymous . Stories won't make to FrontPage by your concept. You can't Game Digg. You just have 2 options left - Become a power user yourself or Buy Digg Votes from Trust able source. You can find it at - Advertise your services section.
 
This is relevant to my interests. I haven't worked out your formula but that will probably be the most important part to get this rolling, well besides getting people to participate. I am very interested though.
 
Good idea but don't do mailing. Just have it setup with a listing of articles you can digg, limit them to like 10 per hour or something, hell you'd even be able to make it so they couldn't digg that persons stuff more than twice in a day if you got a good programmer. Sell credits, and win.
 
i was thinking people must do stuff like digg other posts on digg at random? i dunno, i know digg is pretty hard to fark over, so that why i need everyone heres input :)
 
FrontPage is always conquered by Power Diggers. like I have 120 Power Digger friends on Digg. They Digg each story of mine and I dugg each story of their's.
 
how do you become a power digger?
 
I am on Digg since 4 years spending 4 hours everyday. I hope that counts.

you were saying that you and a group of people digg eachothers posts? does digg not pick up on this? like the same group of people always digging eachothers stuff?

also, didn't digg change the way you get to front page? as in, it is not based only on diggs anymore?

what sort of things would get you banned on digg? multiple accounts?

this site already exists , youdigg.me. Is true the limit. Here you can make 50 diggs/day. But you can get enough credits in a couple of days and then use it for your story. I think they have enough users to give you 300-500 diggs, and from there it has to go for itself.
