Just like the title says. I am ranked on the first page of google when i use google chrome but when i use internet explorer I am ranked on the third page of google. What is going on here and is there a tool to separate your rankings by browser to get a better understanding?

Google shows different results based on your history, so I presume that you usually use Chrome and click on your link while IE you use just to check these results. That's why Chrome shows it in better position.

I think you are correct there. I cleared my browsing data from internet explorer and when i searched the term again it showed me in the new position.

I have never heard that someone with two different browsers sees two different Google search results for the same query. But I know the Google results are not the same for all, and two persons or two computers and IPs can have different Google search results.

Generally we are logged in with our gmail ID on Chrome and somehow if that gmail ID is connected with the site then automatically site seems to show up in better rankings and that's not the case with IE. That may be the reason.

It happens due to cache, location etc., try with incognito mode while checking on any browsers. If you have linked the site with GWT then check with the exact rankings there, nothing to fear with ranking differences on browsers.
