Im just wondering if anyone knows if there are multiple servers with Google? A few of my sites fluctuate between pages 1-3 for various key words. When I look in the morning they are on page 1 then a few hours later they are on page 3. The results look different too ie some other variations of ranking sites. However my main competitor always has his site at number 1 or 2 on page 1 always,no matter when I look. Is it multiple servers and if so,how do I get my site to rank for all severs at all times, not just some of them?

I get the same on EVERY REFRESH for my rankings, but not with that huge difference, that is probably weird. In my case, I get #19 then #20, then #21, then #20, then #10
but that is nothing abnormal I guess, but in your case, something must be happening...

Rankings are based on ever changing metrics. How many searches does your main keyword get?

When searching for my rankings its always a static ip. I only use different ips when running campaigns using software

It's called Google dance. Keep building backlinks/posting content on your site. That's the key to improve your rankings.

Google don't have its own servers farms. instead they rent and borrow them from diff providers.

there main providers are NSA, CIA and such :o

these organizations mainly temper the search engine rankings to overthrow diff country governments.

Oh yeah, it became too costly for them so they had to sell their servers and rent cloud servers from the NSA etc.

My bad OP.

Yeah there's a shitload. That's what a google dance is. It used to happen every so often but now it's just a constant dance. You can actually directly search on different IPs to get different results, or at least you used to be able to. If it's fluctuating that much it basically means neither you or your competitors in 10-40 are stronger than each other. Small changes in data that hasn't propagated everywhere at the same rate causes huge differences in rank. It doesn't happen much in the first few results because the difference in strength between say #1 and #2 is a lot more than the difference between #10 and #40.

Thanks for all the replies. It explains a bit. But I still dont understand why my site can show on page 1 then I can check again an hour later and it is completely gone. Not just on next page, totally out of the results altogether. then a couple of hours later I can check and it is back in exactly the position it was in earlier. Why does it disappear then return? Also sometimes google ads show at the top of the page, other times they dont. Im at a complete loss as to how to progress from here as I dont know which is the true results
