Different backlink types and ways to automate them?

What are the different types of backlinks (i.e. diversified backlinks - obviously all backlinks from blog comments would not be an effective plan), and how can I automate the creation of them? Thank you in advanced.

You really need to read around the different message forums here at this site. First off, take a look at Nohandsseo, SeolinkRobot, Senuke, hrumer just to name a few..

Articles, Directories, Blog Comments, Profile Links, Contextual Homepage Links, Web 2.0.

They are pretty much all the types of backlinks...you can say .edu/.gov ones too, but they are just blog posts or profile links anyway..
