Difference between guest post and PBN

Hi,

I have been in white hat seo methods for many years, but the blackhat things are making me confused.

People here are telling and selling PBN links. I am just wondering why PBN are so powerful, as far as I know PBN are normal blog post links which are built on expired domains.

I bought a few blog post links for a recent project from a provider which were built on expired domain, but it did not help anything on ranking.

Next in my niche competitors have 2k-3k root domain backlinks, how can I beat them with only with a few (20-30) PBN backlinks?

So my final question is what is the logic behind the PBN links that can beat high competitive niche.

Guest posts are backlinks from organic websites with legeit regular traffic.

PBN links are from artificialy made websites that are made to look like real sites.

Shit guest posts sold by most sellers are just better looking (if even that) PBNs.

You most likely can't without quite significant investments and even then it might not happen. Write better content than your competition, make sure your onsite SEO is flawless and see where that gets you.

Enough money can buy you anything. Even enough PBN links to beat your competition eventually.

But again, all comes down to money and ROI.
