Difference between exact/broad Serps Means what?

Ranking 5 for the search term in exact "keyword".
Ranking 40 for the search broad without "".

What does that difference indicate? Offpage SEO aka backlinks?

Are there any things to look for as far as the Gap between them goes? Does it give any "clues"?

A lot of my keywords are like this. Ranking in top 5 exact and 30+ Broad.

Broad is a combination of the keywords, exact means the exact phrase

I have wasted my first 3 seriouse months playing games getting to first page for BROAD matches. Dont make this mistake.

Like this guy I did this too.

I would be hyped concentrating on broad searches and then discover that exact had only 30 exacts loool Such a dumb mistake. A real NOOB mistake.
 
NO, I mean in the Serps, Search engine results. Coming up 5th for exact and 30 for braod during a SEARCH... but yeah, what you guys are saying about keyword selection.. haha that was my first mistake with this one website i'm doing now.. and well.. i got no traffic hahah
 
the difference is months of headaches, if you are hitting position 5 for exact then that should be ok

Unless the exact searches do not get much volume, in that case your traffic would be very low
 
Guys can you explain this to me cos I really don't understand it and it's been pissing me off for a while. People are always saying only look at exact when I don;t see the logic...

Why does exact matter when you are coming up on like 5th page for broad? since people usually don't search in quotes anyway so you are still on page 5 for all intents and purposes right?

Please explain how the exact is relevant to actually getting sales if you still only come up on 5th page for broad?

Yeah lol, most of my stuff i'm in the top 10 for exact. But nobody i mean zero search for exact terms.. the always 30+ for broad, which dont get any visitors anyhow haha.. I am thinking exact is how good your on page seo is.. and broad is how good your external seo is..
 
Right, I see we are thinking along the same lines here so I'm eager for someone to explain wtf is up with everybody banging on about exact all the time vs. broad.
 
Here is what does exact search, broad search means and why you need to always focus on "Exact Search"

For Example Search cheap antivirus in google, you will get about 18 millions results. This figure shows how many sites are having keyword "cheap antivirus" + another term say "cheap antivirus software" "cheap antivirus software download", while writing in Quotes of Exact match means you will get results of sites that are particularly targeting keyword "cheap antivirus" ie. 85,5000 sites ranking for this competition.

Once you type your keywords in google adwards, it shows "Broad" results means how many people search words starting with "cheap antivirus" + another term.
while "Exact" results show results for only keyword "cheap antivirus" .

Currently i can see 8100 Global Search Results with this term cheap antivirus, while exact Global Search Results 1000!.

Once you rank on 5th position you are esitmating a good traffic flow while you can only expect 5 - 10% of Exact Search Results and thus brings disappointment since you are expecting "Good" traffic with a good ranking :(
 
^that didn't offer any new information at all really...

Everyone seems to say the same thing but don't explain exactly how the shit ppl are supposed to navigate to your site/find you in search engines when you are buried under a farmer's dungpile of broad...

Someone please explain this...(cos I know most ppl are doing broad searches not exacts so how do you explain it?)
 
Checking Exact Search does not means that people are searching in Quotes.

It is an indicator that

1) How competitive your niche or keyword is and how many sites are targeting this exact keyword
2) How much traffic to expect with the Exact Keyword, If you acheive top position with your SEO strategy.
 
This still doesn't help the fact you are STILL COMPETING WITH BROAD when you are in google.
 
ok, but none of this is on topic lol.....

The question is. What does the difference between your ranking with exact and broad mean? RANKING....

What indicators can be drawn from that, to show you what you need to do. I am ASSUMING its an indicator of backlinks etc.
