Today I came across a .travel domain and I was very surprised... I was looking at a URL and 30 seconds I couldn't find what the domain was :)))

They have been around since 2006 if I'm not mistaking. It didn't kick off pretty well though.

I remember first seeing a .travel domain back in 2008. Thought it would be a massive hit, but never seen any large websites with a .travel

Yeh, they've been around for a while but no one uses them.

I haven't seen any of these in SERPs... I saw this because someone referred me to it.

It seems they are not good from SEO perspective.

They can be great from an SEO perspective, because not many spammers use them, you have to be a participant in the travel and tourism industry to get one, and they cost around $100 per year.

I came here to say this. They're industry specific, and AFAIK they didn't have that much of a success anyways (maybe the steep price played a role here?).
