Did/Would you left/leave school for IM ?

Trust me I had actually had this thought of quitting education and focus on IM completely but then I thought lets play it safe and I am so glad I did. I am doing my MBA in marketing now. The things I am learning is so awesome that I want to go back in time and slap myself for even thinking of quitting education.

I don't think education as fail safe option but to learn new things network with new people. Associate what you are learning in school with IM and see what you can come up with . You will be amazed!

I would say it isn't smart to leave school for full-time IM unless you have a bulletproof method or are making over $100 a day already (assuming it's consistent). Although I wanted to do it myself, I have realized that College is an experience that you really do need. It's not so much of what I've learned from classes, but what i've learned from the people i've met and encountered with.
I have also learned a good amount from classes thus far (it's my first year) which is very much related to IM as I am majoring in Information Technology and taking various classes on programming and web development.
Having a degree is a great backup just in case anything happens to your IM ventures. The internet is always changing and sometimes things can end up going the way you didn't want them to. For example, when Panda hit, a lot of people lost their income due to their previous SEO methods which did not have as much effect after the Panda update. You can't predict what's going to happen, but you can secure your own future.

Same advice As others. Dont leave school. Practice now till you are proficient. Take the decision in college. I am doing college for two years...although the education is moronically pathetic...the social circles and girls do have their advantages.

Just a small advice from me.

I couldn't finish college, not because I didn't want it to, or I was to stupid to do it, more because i HAD to work and I didn't have somebody who would pay for my college. I had to finance everything, and it was just to much for me back then. I couldn't work 9h/day and spend time on college - so I left my really good degrees and dropped out.

And today, when I don't have to worry about money, I feel bad because of it. All of my partners/colleagues have a degree in something, and when we sit somewhere, drink something and brag about our successes - I just don't feel comfortable about my non-education. People respect you more when they see that you worked your ass of on a college and have a title now. If you have your parents and if they still finance you - then continue your college thing and finish it. After that you can build your reputation. Clients will look you more seriously and you will feel more comfortable about it overall.

And also enjoy your friends and the girls on your college, once you start IM full time, you will spend less time with them, believe me...

I am at University, I wouldn`t leave unless I was making reliable income and lots of it. At the end of the day, jobs are available all the time when you have a degree where as most internet money making methods are relatively unreliable.

I do IM on the side, to support my costs whilst being at University, as my loan doesn`t even cover my rent for the year (thanks government). It`s gonna be great when I leave though, I will have harnessed my methods and be getting good extra income on top of my wages from my job, which 95% of people I know can`t say they have. Most of them are obnoxious and haven`t learnt the value of money, where as I have.

I know the difference between what something costs, and what its worth.

dude stop being a follower so what you don't have a degree was you born with 1? don't live your life based on what people expect of you if you do that your just limiting your self by being a follower instead of leader they said you can never be first following someone's else foot steps and also answer this with all the degrees in the world is the world a better and safer place? what are those degrees stopping wars disease and poverty? are those degrees stopping abortions? nope i could go on and on so i hope you get my point the thing is find what you love your passion then focus on it forget about the dudes in suites because they are stupider than stupid you think the real knowledge is being teached in schools and colleges? better think again they are basically getting watered down education

I dropped out of my Computer Science course at university to focus on IM.

The reasoning behind it was that:
1. Being self taught means I wasn't getting value for money in terms of my education, I found myself turning up to lectures and being taught how to suck eggs.
2. I'm consistently making more money than what I would have if I had graduated and got a job in the industry.

Leaving uni was the best thing I've personally ever done, but it really depends on your circumstances. It's not a decision to be made lightly!
