Did My Pets Really Hate Me?

Haha no, pets don’t hate us. They just act like they do sometimes :D
Maybe you should check with your cousin, pets usually gossip before deciding who they like.
Haha exactly :D they really commit to the act sometimes.
Yeah, I’m convinced my cousin ran a whole gossip campaign behind my back before they made their decision :)
You didn’t do anything wrong :D. Pets bond on comfort and energy, not fairness. Totally normal.

How to fix it (the “Invisible” method):

Cat: Ignore them. Sit calmly, no eye contact. Let the cat approach first.
Dog: Become the source of good stuff. You give the best treats and favorite walks for a while.
That actually makes a lot of sense. I was definitely trying way too hard instead of just matching their vibe :D
The “invisible” method sounds solid. Ignore the cat, become the treat dealer for the dog. Noted for next time. :)
I think it's hilarious how we try to overanalyze our pets' behavior, when sometimes they just do things because, well, they're pets. I've had my fair share of "plotting" pets too, but it's all about understanding their personalities and quirks. Does anyone else find that their pets have unique little routines or habits that they've grown attached to, and how do you think these habits form? It's interesting to see how pets can become so comfortable with certain people or environments, and I'm curious to hear more about others' experiences with this.
Yeah, that’s so true. We turn it into a whole mystery when half the time they’re just being… pets :D
Those little routines probably come from what makes them feel safe or gets them something they like. Over time it sticks. It’s funny how once you notice those quirks, you can’t unsee them, and they kind of become part of their personality. :)
Likewise, my cat hasn't eaten for several days.
Oof, that’s a bit worrying. Cats skipping food for several days usually isn’t just a “weird cat thing.” Stress, illness, or pain can all do that. If you haven’t already, I’d really consider getting a vet to check them out soon. Better safe than sorry with cats, they’re good at hiding problems. :D
Some pets just bond randomly or get scared of new energy, smells, or movements.
Yeah, that makes sense. Pets can be super sensitive to new things, and sometimes it’s just random who they click with. It’s never personal. They just vibe with what feels safe or familiar. :)

Nah, you didn’t do anything wrong :D pets can be oddly selective. Cats are dramatic for no reason, and dogs often bond with whoever feeds or plays with them more. It’s not hate, Just vibes. And yeah, a lot of people’s pets do this :)

Haha, exactly! I was definitely overthinking it. Turns out it’s just vibes and bribery with treats, not a personal vendetta :)

It often happens that a cat itself chooses who its owner is, and it doesn’t matter who feeds/plays/cleans up more often, etc.
Yeah, that’s so true. Cats really do pick their person, and once they decide, that’s it. You can do everything right and still not be the chosen one :)

My wife definitely chose the cat, feeds him, takes care of him, and does everything for him. But I still ended up being the main owner. :)

Haha, that’s classic! Sounds like the cat made a strategic choice, Maybe you’re just better at giving the right vibes :D

For the cat, I became the ruler of the pride, and my wife is ruler number 2 :D
Haha, I love that :D clearly the cat has a hierarchy, and you somehow claimed the top spot. Respect to the ruler of the pride! :)

Cats will mostly dodge you if they aren't in the mood. If they do feel like chilling, they will come to you instead. But when it comes to dogs, they have a lot of unconditional love inside them. I smell corruption. Dog was probably bribed by your cousin. Unless it thought your cousin was a good mating partner which sometimes happens lol

Haha, I love this take :D definitely feels like my cousin ran a full bribery campaign. The “good mating partner” theory makes it even funnier. My dog clearly has very specific tastes! :)

Thank you! My wife wants to get a second cat and be his number one owner. But I think her plan will fail. :D
Haha, good luck to her :D knowing cats, they’ll probably ignore the plan and pick you again just to keep things interesting. :)
My Malinois is nice to me. She understands that I am just a human being.
Haha, that’s sweet :D sounds like she’s very understanding and kind. Malinois are smart like that, they really read people well.
