Did Massive Backlinking "Kill" Your Site?

I have never had a problem with to many backlinks but then again I only do a few here and there.

At first you can't start the spam attack , you gotta get few good quality links first..

lol. Yes typical noobism, something works, let me over-kill and see what happens. There's a such thing as link diversity. Too much of any link, looks suspect. No need to shoot an ANT with a .45. This thread is funny, you cats are blasting your sites right out the serps.

lol Yea, while my service thread is exploding with positive reviews, I just got a customer complaining that he lost ranking after using my service. I had to point out to him that when I do a links: "hisdomain.com" search i see tons of backlinks posted in the past few weeks, so obviously he is overdoing it and killing his site.

All this knowledge on this site here, when will they learn?

EDIT: as an extra thought, it would be good for all the noobs to start doing some research into link diversity, link velocity, and anchor text diversity. Seems like those are the biggest factors with backlinking these days. Not the number of links, but how you link to your site.

What do you mean by "link velocity"? like how quickly you back link?
