Did Massive Backlinking "Kill" Your Site?

one of my site, i did massive backlink and i lost all income and it never come back been 1 year.

Let your site age a little & you can pretty much blast it all you want. I hit my site direct as a case study with over 100k comments and 150k trackbacks in 3 day's & its still standing. It's a pretty thin site too, 4 X 500 word articles & T&C page e.t.c.

If it was just a myth then this issue wouldn't keep coming back...

The statements made here may seem contradict each other but they don't....

Every case is different and google has more then just 2 outcomes to it's algorithms...

I did. I paid for 3 blasts (80,000 links each) of porn backlinks to the #2 on G (a small site of one person - real estate agent) for a specific KW I work on. It didn't move an inch...It's been 4 months ago...

No backlinks had my site sitting on page 1 of google for dozens of KWs.
Buying a 120 backlinks package on fiverr made it to dive deep in the darkness of google in less than 1 day and staying there for the last 3 months now...

thanks cody.

backlinking a site from start = bad.

backlinking established sites like your real estate friend = no change to good.

A BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY AND THEY CANT RIGHT A SCRIPT TO FIGURE THAT OUT? I could probably learn scripting and figure out how to right something like taht in time and I dont know shit about scripting lol

c'mon people BHW is a great place but it is not the final answer on IM.

the general goal behind massive backlinking is changing serps. if you have your own hot list that puts links in front of good streams of traffic you have something special.

backlinking a site from start = bad.

Don't look at things from the point of view of a Black Hat SEOer. How many BlackHatters are there vs. Regular guys just trying to increase traffic to their site and spread the word? Google has to try to make their rankings work for regular peoples websites, not BlackHatters

Regular people sign up for tons of sites too and share their links. Do you think Google has a specific number of links a site can get before they get in trouble? I am not trying to sit here and say I am #1 for every keyword in the world, but I rank enough to get several visitors per day to all of my sites from Google and make little profits completely automated.

None of my sites have ever been knocked out of Googles ranks or received a big penalty.
All of my sites have more backlinks then visitors per year.

.

first of all why wouldn't I try to look from a Black Hat perspective? MASSIVE BACKLINKING is a blackhat technique lol. go try to buy scrapebox at Best Buy lol. The best tool out there right now and you ain't getting a hard copy lol See if you see scrapebox or even "massive backlinking" mentioned in any marketing magazines covering seo.

if a "regular" person does true massive backlinking there not "regular" anymore. they are now a BH'er or, more fitting trying, to be one.

You know that point in a thread, where all rational thinking goes out the window, and people lose interest? I think we just reached that. We will try one more time: What do you consider "true massive backlinking", because at the start of this thread, you said it was giving your site more links than visitors per year. That is NOT hard to do manually, and isn't necessarily blackhat. There are plenty of 15 year old girls just Tweeting about their site 50+ times per day and chatting on forums non stop and writing their tumblr blogs and updating their facebooks etc non stop. They are not BlackHatters just because they promote themselves lots.

BlackHat SEO is only BlackHat SEO if the goal is rising in the serps.
If your goal is just getting direct traffic, your are not a BlackHat SEOer.

the kind of linking where a bot is required because it wouldnt be cost (or time) efficient to do it manually.

120 links? I can spend a day doing them if need be.

120,000? I wouldn't be able to do this without a proper tool. thats like trying to lift 1500 pound pallates without a forklift.

of course the number is subjective but when we get to the point where we would never attempt it WITHOUT a bot of somekind its considered massive.

BlackHat SEO is only BlackHat SEO if the goal is rising in the serps.
If your goal is just getting direct traffic, your are not a BlackHat SEOer.

then you are what? just a blackhatter? in the end its all traffic. serps without a traffic reward makes no sense.

Ok, so now we have your explanation. Now what if I set up a site for my company with 500+ employees who are all trying to recruit new clients to the company through spreading links, or they are chatting about it in Social Media? Does google know how many employees my site has?

10 links per day X 500 employees = 5,000 links per day, all manual, and all potentially white hat. I would consider that massive in the terms we are talking about, but when broken down, it really not unrealistic. There are plenty of reasons why sites might get more links than visitors in the beginning of their life.

if you build a bunch of spammy links and rank a site and and then your ranking suddenly drops by a lot, that doesnt mean you got penalized. it means google detected the spammy links you built (that it doesnt want to count in the first place) and stopped counting them in the algorithm

I had 1 page on a new domain one time. I felt like messing around, so I did an AMR blast to it... the site was like 2 weeks ok. It droped to the last page of google for 2 months... I added 10 unique high quality articles and It came back within days. It's really not all about links

I'm not sure if I agree at all. Again, it comes down to whether Google can really penalize us for off-page SEO. Wouldn't it be unfair? People could just nail eachothers sites. I think with newer sites, it is possible, but when a site is new, it's generally not even in the top 100, and no one goes digging for sites on page 10 and on to nail them with Scrapebox and get them penalized.

I had a one month old site. I had tons of content on it. Roughly 30, 700+ word articles. I had one private blog network package done for the site, and that's it. I ordered SGW (Spam Gone Wild). In case you don't now, it's one of the spammiest services you can buy (as the name states haha). Over 100,000 indexed links in a matter of a week or two. My site is 4 months old now, sitting at #3 for a competitive keyword. Never got penalized for that. What I think? Probably becaue my on page SEO was strong.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe a few reputable members here quoted an article by Google that said that they do not penalize sites for off-page factors. I know, we can't completely trust Google, but to be honest, I believe it to a certain degree.

The one thing google has consistently shown is that they're fair

Typical noobisms.

How about this: any kind of link will hurt if done in excess, i.e. in massive bulk all at once.

lol. Yes typical noobism, something works, let me over-kill and see what happens. There's a such thing as link diversity. Too much of any link, looks suspect. No need to shoot an ANT with a .45. This thread is funny, you cats are blasting your sites right out the serps.

ok I see what you are saying here......

I guess it all comes down to a manual review. they can't just assume your cheating and kill your site I guess.

it kills mostlly only if ur site is very new and have jerk content on it
