Hello everyone. After reading a lot on this forum I decided to make my first keyword targeted site and just created a site that is ranked number one for my keyword. When using the keyword tool provided by google i used the broach search and not the exact search when finding a good keyword to target. So i found a keyword with 27000 broad searches and I am not getting any traffifc. Did i mess up?

All isn't lost. You can find related search terms and longtail keywords which will all bring you traffic. What are the exact match searches?

check exacth match and see number

if it is like 120 you will get 4 visitors per day at best

Yeah 1600 is good. Switch computers (or clear cookies, delete cache, logout of all accounts, and use a different browser, but switching computers sounds easier) and see if the #1 is still there. There's a chance your result is just personalized and your site isn't actually #1. Or send me the site and keyword and I'll perform a ranking check to verify for you.

funny thing is my rank just dropped all the way to the bottom of page one. After all these google updates, should i go for an authority site or keep making micro niche sites? Also to answer your question artizhay I double checked from a few different computers.

Don't let the update discourage you. It is still possible to rank. Don't stick to one type of linkbuilding, stay diverse. Twitter retweets etc seem to be helping quite a few people rank.

Create that site into an authority if the niche you're working in needs it. If the niche you're trying to rank for with site is quite easy to rank in, you'll be able to create an authority site and dominate a lot of related keywords to your site and get a nice flow of traffic. Idealy you should look at building all or most of your sites as authorities.

A piece of advice that I learned a long time ago when it comes to SEO...spend more time learning how to identify good keywords and learn how to do proper keyword research then spend enough time when doing keyword research.

It is a pain in the ass at first but now it has becoming my favorite part of the SEO process and it is also the most important one, from my perspective even more important than ranking a site and I'll tell you why. If you screw up the keyword research and start ranking some keyword and not getting any or much traffic you will try again and again and after a while you'll just put it into your head that SEO is bullshit and no real money can made doing it. Learn the fundamentals first and only after you do start ranking your sites.

That's my 2 cents.

Thanks for the information. Do you have any tips for keyword research or any good sources? I just got the free trial for market samurai yesterday.
