Few days ago i dropped my website link at the bottom of a wiki article and added a couple of sentences of IMO valuable correct information ..
a day later my information was deleted but my link still remains to my website at the bottom of the page along with a couple of other broken links.

Perhaps someone with more experiences with wikipedia could shed some light or share experiences..

it's become somewhat an obsession.. i wake up and check the wiki page on my phone first thing in bed :o

I add wiki links all the time. Don't overdo it, do too many in one day or too many to the same money site. But they are decent referral traffic.

The thing you need to watch out for is wikipedia scraper sites. They will scrape that page eventually along with your link. Some of these sites are dog shit and may harm you. Be careful.

Links can be removed long time after you placed. Don't waste your time watching wikipedia every days LOL

Its not a big deal. I added a couple of links last year and they are still there.

I have added credible info to wiki in the past with a link to my site, i found that it was a case of flip a coin as to whether or not my info stayed and when my link remained it was just roll a dice if it stayed or not.

Remember anyone can edit wiki so if your competitor see's your link they can remove it

Seriously, Wikipedia editor are really active and they will revert that action,if link is really legit.

Wiki moderators are volunteers and as you can imagine, the results from using them is variable at best!

Enjoy the referral traffic while it lasts.

Yeah, I've had wiki links that have been up for years and then suddenly get taken down by some dipshit. That being said, I still have many that are up. Like Jumbuck said above. Enjoy the referring traffic, while it last (it's usually worthless Zombie traffic in most cases).

im not gonna get hardly any traffic.. its just i wanted some authority links for my micro niche site

Actually very easy to advertise on Wikipedia if you're smart. You don't even have to contribute anything useful, just have an established account.

Looks like you got lucky, is the link bringing in any traffic?

The Wikipedia link nazis have arrived and deleted ALL my links.

They left all the links to broken sites though because they're more valuable, obviously

Add it again and see what happens, if it remains for few more weeks wouldn't that be great.

Actually, you did not get lucky with Wikipedia.

You see, a lot of people post content on Wikipedia and they don't add support to their assertions.

Wikipedia is always looking for citations.

It seems that your link was retained because you provide a citation or a resource.

This is not a stroke of luck.

By simply focusing on getting the link to a high-quality resource or a decent high-quality resource on Wikipedia in

rather obscure niches, should result in the link persisting for quite some time.

It's only when you're dealing with highly-competitive niches that you really have to watch your link's longevity.

If you're dealing with a page that has many different editors and it involves a high-value niche, you can bet that not

only will your content get yanked, but your link will disappear as well.

You can try to do this

On Wikipedia, go in discussion page from where your link has been deleted and post:

" Hello, why have you deleted my edit with the link http:// yourlink.com i think it is a valuable source bla bla bla try to look nice"

Not the same but still a link from Wiki

I'd have to vouch for this system... It'd work nearly anywhere with the /discussions section or get link juice from (/help.)

A script that monitors wikipedia for link mentions can be coded for dirt cheap.

It's worth it if you're trying to buff up your wikipedia backlink footprint
