I paid $2000 in September to a member of this forum, but did so off forum, through his mailing list.

I was assured these would be 'Authority stacked' Amazon affiliate sites targetting keywords with little or no competition, that would generate not-inconsiderable monthly sales.

They would have 30+ product reviews, on-page SEO, etc.

This is what I have to date:

  • retrotoasterreview.com
  • powerloveseatrecliner.com
  • hosereelhq.com
So here are my honest questions:
  1. Is this what I should expect for $2K, is it what you would expect, how would you feel?
  2. Do you feel a forum should email such a person for an explanation because of the reputational damage this can cause?
  3. Has anybody else bought a similar package? What did you receive? A benchmark would be very helpful.
Appreciate your opions and benchmarks to see if my expectations are excessive.

These are just crappy domain names, (i wouldn't even look at them as I can guess how bad they are as sites) that next year when everyone is shopping with ai agents, won't even get a hint of traffic, if they do at all today! lol

In this industry when you start, you are better off bootstrapping and doing everything yourself so you can see the value and learn, that you and others bring. Not just pump 2k in, for a monthly expectation, that suddenly from month 1 you'll start earning. Its just a pipe dream, it takes years of learning before you can earn. Sometimes along the way you might get scammed. Or in this case you got a service that you could have done yourself for $200-300. Its the law of capitalism. You are always free to source to source cheaper, or buy from the marketplace. People are always going to charge you much more than if you can do yourself.

I'd personally not buy this crap... for $2000 nonetheless, with this money I'd buy 10-20 domain names (plenty of interesting ones in the marketplace) and sell them at double the price, and I'd make a profit like that instead of having to work even more on turning these sites into quality ones. But that's me, others might disagree...

I agree, my expectations were a bit higher than the delivery thus far.
4 months in and zero products, one site with zero content.
Is this normal?
Is this the standard for 'poor' work?

If an individual sells something heor she can't produce, a theory he or she can't back up, then they should just come clean and refund clients their money.
People can accept that, if the communication is there.

But that isn't what happens is it?

If someone strings you along, then where does that stop?
At what point do you say enough is enough?

Always the sooner the better. Consider your original plan of making money. Learn to do that without throwing cash about that reinforces your laziness. Learn to work for the dollar. Learn to put in 2 dollars before you make 3.

I just spent something a good bit of cash on a tablet, so i can work and draw images and make animations. I wouldn't think of subbing to some randoms group, that said he could make them for me and only charge me $500 or whatever for 10+ or something.

I know from my homework, that I have a better understanding about animations, and most website stuff. Basically cause over the past 2 decades I've got my hands dirty, with not much money, and sometimes winning son! lol Also i enjoy this industry. How or why i need to pay a noob or a scammer anything? I KNOW who i need to pay.

Merch sites are free. Socials are free. Subdmains are free on many sites. Blogs in group websites, are free. Youtube is free. Google is free to research. Learn the industry inside out. Otherwise forget it. I mean that. You don't want to pay the price of "years in advance" then go do something else where you get paid at the end of the month guranteed. (and guratnee it) Just cause a random on the net says something is guanrteed. Consider your own common sense very strongly.

The worst thing i ever spent money on was when i dropped $1k on a shopify store course. I mean really. Thats like a keyboard and mouse course. lol But my eyes were emblazoned with easy money from the great commercials they have.

Thank you.
I know the industry.
I know what I'm good at.
I know what I don’t want to do myself;.
Outsourcing isn’t laziness, it’s a timesaver businesses use.
The issue isn’t my budget or work ethic .
It is simply the non-delivery after 4 months!

You would understand better, that if you did your research and viewed the sites!
The non-delivery is the issue that matters here.

How would you weed out the people on a forum who have a successful 'bait' operations running with paid digital products, who then don't deliver on goods paid for outside of a forum?

Why did you fall for this?
It is how most of the industry operates.
Get people onto your mailing list through a freebie or low cost paid digital product (which takes place all the time on forums like this)..
Promote your other products and services to them.

What you are effectively suggesting is don't buy anything from anyone on this forum unless it is in the marketplace.
Probably sound advice.

How does anyone fall for someone selling something from their email list?
Are you building an email list yourself?
It is common business practice.

You have access to youtube and reddit, ask what other peoples experiences are with amazon affiliate sites. This method doesn't make livable money anymore, so buying a DFY site won't work. To be honest, I don't think that in 2025 small players have a place in Google serps in ANY niche. The seller that sold you DFY sites knows this, and that's why he sells sites.

Care to share who that member is? I'm sure we are all interested who is the guy which sold you this crap.
With 2k you could get a website that already has some traffic from places like flippa.

The issue isn't Amazon sites.
I consider these to be starter sites for which I had planned out marketing angles others wouldn't think of.
That would involve communities generating press releases, writing to the 50 state governors with an angle that might appeal to them and to the US president to make a proposal over tariffs, which would generate another press release.

I think way beyond the level you are talking about here.

Indeed, I had figured out another product that stems from these and an untapped market to promote that product to.

DFY can most certainly work. It depens if you see it as the start or the finish. I see it as the start of a plan.

I'm not allowed to, the thread would get banned, I would get another warning.
For some reason, nobody can DM me.
Detectives will figure out a way to find the answer to your question.

The individual has now contacted me offering to finish his work and provide a refund if I am not happy after 180 days.
I have requested the refund immediately, because why would I want more of the same!

I wouldn't even click on these domains, but if I did, I would be thrown offtrack by the blatantly obvious, unsupervised AI text without any human lectoring whatsoever.

Those 3 sites don't even worth 20$. They are useless.

Literally, you can buy some expired domains with 4$ a piece and get better results in terms of SEO. You got scammed a-la-carte.

you cold 've bought an 1998 Audi S8 and have made a better investment.

Or the Jaguar that I have, that did indeed cost less.

Yes, I have some expired domains, he won't be working on those projects!
Nor will he be working on my main project, but, one should look for opportunity out of this adversity.

Any kind of sturdy, semi-long rope should be a good one.
And ypou feel that adds something to the discussion do you?
It's hardly helpful to members of this forum is it?
You are supposed to try and add value to any thread.
If you can't add value, you shouldn't post. This isn't social media.
