Did I finally find a decent KW?

Whats going on everyone, I have been a member on here for quite awhile and I feel like the one huge issue I have is KW research. I know I'm not the only one, but I think for once I have stumbled upon what I would consider a "golden keyword."

Let me show you what I have come across.

First this keyword has 6600 LMS, and I snatched up the exact match .net domain. The .com is available for 7k through Godaddy which is insane.....I paid 1.99 for the .net.

It is a product name, in the jewelry niche so I am thinking I could build a website and monetize with Amazon.

Now, from what I have read on BHW, and learned from other members, after seeing these results in Long Tail Pro is it safe to say this is a keyword I should go for?



I have heard that Amazon, or Ebay in the top results is normally a good sign. The manufacturer of the product does not have a direct website so the top result is just an online jeweler who carries a ton of items, not just the one I am considering targeting. Back link profiles seem pretty weak to me, and PR is relatively low.

Sooooooo what do you guys think? Is it time for me to take action on this one or what? Any advice from LTP guru's or amazon guru's is greatly appreciated.

It looks possible, but some of those metrics can be misleading - 8 & 9 look like they would be a piece of piss to get past, but so do Amazon and Ebay on that basis.

It's not bad seeing those listed, but if you are looking like a branded retail product Google is going to continue doing them a favour in many cases.

Also, if your domain is someone elses brand, don't be surprised to see Google stiff you

To be honest, only from the metrics it is possible to beat.But i have dealt with jewelry niche and most of the top 10 competitors are branded stores, and google places those websites in top 10 by default, so i just moved on.Try it and report here.

Yes, you gotta be careful if you only see authority sites in the top results, like in your screenshot. Ebay or Amazon on the top is usually a good sign when there are also several non authority sites in the top 10 e.g. semi-optimized affiliates. From what Ive read this is a sign fro weak competetition, however if there just authority sites that is a sign for strong competition, even if ebay and amazon are in the top 3. Remember, that a backlink to 15 year old domain is way stronger than to a new domain.

the only site which is not an authority is just on #6 and is also not new by any means. This one could be beat for sure, but I doubt that you can beat the top 5, especially if you are a newbie and your knowledge and budget is limited.

On the other hand, the KW has 6,6k searches, so it might be worth to try it. If it would have just about 2k searches, I would even not think about it.

I think its worth a go for sure. Just don't go in to heavy, don't want to stick out like a saw thumb.

I'm going to give it a shot. The product name is not exactly a brand name more a general type of jewelry. Example would be like "gold charm necklaces," so I'm hoping it works out for me. 6,600 LMS if I can get top 5 I would think I could make a few bucks off of the site. I will pull the trigger, budget isn't a big deal, I make a good living with my day job and this is more or a hobby than anything for me, but I am willing to invest into it.

Unfortunately there is absolutely no way of knowing how hard or easy it will be to rank.

For instance, when I'm ranking with powerful links, I point them to an unused domain and do a 301 to my money site and then block it from the SEO crawlers, and then intentionally also build a few 'weak' looking links to make my profile look very much like that of the #1 result in the screenshot you've attached.

My intent in doing so is to encourage others initially to compete, thinking it will be easy, but then have them give up when it doesn't rank easily; because I take the view that those who compete for keywords that they think will be easy are also the same people who will give up when they don't rank easily - and that's of course nothing personal about you, it is rather a belief that I rely on to fight off competition preemptively.

So, in a nutshell, you honestly cannot tell anything about how hard or easy it may be on the basis of the data you have there.
