So I know you shouldn't CREATE too many accounts on one device ID but does this also mean its risky to MANAGE too many accounts on one device id?

Or is this number limit just for the sign up stage?

For those who missed my last post I've been successfully creating accounts using instagrams new sign up page (in web browser).

Just wanna add some photos to the above accounts before I put them into Instagress...

Any experience is appreciated

Well, since Instagram seems to be working on an app update where you can manage multiple accounts, I'd say no. Since there's a limit per device I guess you can do it. As far as I've read stuff regarding that topic it seems that only the device ID while registering is logged, it's more about using the same IP then. Be sure to use your mobile data and you're definitely playing safer.

I'm curious about this too, I'm just careful by using my 3G/data instead of my home wifi, but I do log into a few accounts each day on my phone..

If you wanna be safe and have an android phone change the device ID after logging in into some accounts..

I use my phone to manage 6-10 Instagram accounts every day.

Cheers guys! that puts my mind at rest.

Although I do wonder how much info they log when you sign up via web browser?

I've been mixing it up with various log ins/machines/web browsers/ip's to be safe.

But I guess a university machine or public library could have many sign ups from various people (Instagram must take that into account).
So maybe I'm just being paranoid! :worm3:

From instagram:

Device identifiers:
  • When you use a mobile device like a tablet or phone to access our Service, we may access, collect, monitor, store on your device, and/or remotely store one or more "device identifiers." Device identifiers are small data files or similar data structures stored on or associated with your mobile device, which uniquely identify your mobile device. A device identifier may be data stored in connection with the device hardware, data stored in connection with the device's operating system or other software, or data sent to the device by Instagram.

Does this mean even changing your device ID might not be enough?

I'm on iphone so can't take advantage of the device id change sadly. Just wanted bring this up for others...

To take care of all those things it's better when using an android phone. I also use an iPhone but I'm not caring much about that device ID, only for the sign up.

If you wanna play safe, get a cheap android phones (there are a lot nowadays) root it and back it up before installing any app. Then, install Instagram, do your stuff and reset/wipe your phone. Check if the device ID changed which should have happened. If not, change the device ID and everything there is to change about that phone. Then, login again into Instagram. This way you can be safe that Instagram has not left any data on your phone. Resetting/rewiping does not take up much time depending on which phone and method you're using, sometimes it might be just a matter of minutes.

But... why really care about all this? As it seems Instagram is working on including multiple account management on an upcoming update. They know most of the people have many accounts and they actually want that too, or do you think the numbers Instagram presents on accounts made are solely users using it?

It's not against their TOS to have multiple accounts, many people with a brand actually are kinda forced to have more accounts beside their personal one.

Thanks for your advice I'm gonna invest in one.

I think I'm just being over cautious.

I kinda have a feeling this multiple user function on Instagram could be a little disappointing. (might just let us have 2 or 3 accounts)

Hopefully more (like Twitter) but I think the number of accounts they allow will help revel instagrams current intentions...
