About the Project
I’m a hockey coach and I’ve identified a big gap in the tools available for player development. Coaches don’t have an easy way to upload a game video, tag specific plays for each player, and deliver personalized feedback with voice or text notes.

The vision is a simple, user-friendly web app:

  • Coach uploads a YouTube game link.
  • Uploads team roster (player names + emails).
  • While watching the game, the coach can tag a player at a timestamp and add a note (positive or negative, text or voice).
  • When the session is done, each player automatically receives an email with:
    • Their tagged plays (linked to YouTube timestamps).
    • The coach’s feedback (voice + text).

What I Need Built (MVP)

  • Frontend:
    • Video player (YouTube embedded).
    • Ability to pause & tag moments with player selection.
    • Add text comments + record short audio notes.
    • Roster management (upload CSV or manual entry).
  • Backend:
    • Store video links, player roster, feedback tags, and notes.
    • Generate per-player reports.
    • Email system to send reports to each player automatically.
  • Tech stack (suggested, open to your input):
    • Frontend: React or Next.js.
    • Backend: Node.js/Express or Django.
    • Database: PostgreSQL or Firebase.
    • File storage: AWS S3 (for audio notes).
    • Email delivery: SendGrid/Postmark.
    • YouTube API integration.

Deliverables for Phase 1 (MVP):

  • Working web app where:
    1. Coach uploads YouTube link + roster.
    2. Tags plays with notes + players.
    3. Finishes session → emails automatically sent to players with personalized feedback.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience with full-stack web apps.
  • Comfortable working with video APIs and email systems.
  • Ability to build a clean, intuitive UI (this must be very user-friendly for non-technical coaches).
  • Bonus if you’ve worked with sports analytics or video annotation tools before.

Budget: Open to discussion depending on scope (initial MVP first, with potential for ongoing work).

How to Apply:

  • Share examples of SaaS/web apps you’ve built (especially video-based or annotation tools).
  • Suggest your preferred tech stack for this MVP.
  • Briefly outline how you’d approach Phase 1 (so I know you understand the workflow).

Please give your budget and TAT to be considered
