Developer in the house, finally trying to do something with myself.

Hello everyone, my name is Chris and I'm a frequent roamer of BlackHatWorld. I'm finally joining the forum to make my introduction and attempt to get some advice.

I probably have what some of you guys call "information overload" by this point as I feel as if I've read every thread on the forum. I've been roaming here for around five months and haven't bothered to register an account until today.

So here's a little about myself:

I'm a programmer and web-developer, but far from a web-designer. I've been attempting for months to find a way to improve my design skills that way I can start selling templates or even doing websites for people, but it seems like I'm stuck in the mud when it comes to design. I have a decent list of programming knowledge and while it's not massive it does account for something. I have experience with the following languages:

• Java
• PHP (HTML/CSS)
• C#
• Lua
• Python
• Visual Basic
• Javascript
• C++

I was thinking about going to a bunch of the small businesses around here that I know do not have a website and offering them a website. The only problem I have with this is the overall design of the pages. I know how to style everything and get the information I want on the pages, I just don't know how to make it look appealing. If you give me a template I can make it from scratch, but that's not good for anything, now is it. I also need to brush up on my information when it comes to reasons as to why they would need a website. I can offer them store systems (Albeit the payments being through paypal unless they had another payment vendor) and I can also offer long-term support and editing for a price.

I've thought about making a niche website, but everytime that I do it feels absolutely useless because the only things that I'm interested in are super-niches that are so over-saturated my website would suffer from lack of cyber-oxygen. I've thought about making things such as bots for certain tasks, but I don't know what would need a bot or how the original task is to be done in most cases. I've had people ask me to make bots for things such as twitter and tumblr, and I've made a tumblr bot in the past. I just have no idea how to monetize these types of things and I'm here asking for help. My current goal is to find around $10/day passive income, rather it's through a website, sales, Youtube, or whatever.

Very nice to have you here! We have very similar language knowledges! Your goal is very achievable and simple. Pick a way and stick to it. Expect failure, but failure is part of the recipe for success. Trust me, with your knowledge and skills, you will succeed if you stick to whatever you do and do it passionately!

Welcome aboard Chris! I'm in the same boat as you, just a little bit ahead. But with your set of skills, I have no doubt that you're going to go pretty far. Can you tell me more about your PHP skills? Which frameworks have you worked with in the past? I'm asking because what I'm working right now is something that you might be interested in.

I have not worked with any PHP frameworks as everything that I've ever needed I have written myself. My skill pertaining to PHP is directly pertaining to the linear programming style, while I can write OO code in PHP, I just have never found the need for it.
