Hi Everyone,
Wanted to share a small success story with you guys. As a freelance website developer, I used to create my websites using different Content Management Systems, like WordPress, Elgg, and MediaWiki and had several plugins installed to cater to different aspects of the website.
Having said that, there was a time when I wanted to upgrade my PHP version on my servers, and because the plugin owners would have discontinued providing support to the CMS, therefore, it was really difficult for me to upgrade software, which in the end resulted in security issues.
Although, I am not from a programming background, still, I was able to develop a simple Content Management System (CMS) from scratch using HTML, CSS, PHP, and Java Scripts. I started saving blogs as text files and then calling the same using codes. Some of the features of CMS created are as follows;
1. Publish Blogs in pure HTML
2. Edit Blogs by clicking on Edit Icon
3. Show Recently Modified Blogs
4. Create Space for Advertisements (Manual as well as Automated)
I am still working on creating a comment system, but it is still a work in progress.
My Aim in sharing this story was to encourage you to find different ways of solving issues and not quit if there is a roadblock. I have seen several people quit because they can't update their software or just because they have issues with SSL. Try to figure out different ways of solving the issues, and you should be able to keep your blog going.
Let me know if you have come across any such issues in your life and how you overcame those hurdles.
Have a great day ahead
