Determining a backlink's value from a guest blog

Hi guys,

I came across a guest post opportunity on this site, webdesign.org and wanted to view other's opinions of its value if it were to give a do-follow link to my site.

I noticed there's no blog menu link within the navigation and some posts were placed in unknown categories that were not found anywhere like the ones below. My SEO friend said posts like these would not get as much link juice compared to posts in visible categories. Is this true? Thanks !

Theoretically link juice is based in multiple parameters
Each page within that site, has a called OPR, which is calculated based on two factors: distance from the home + incoming links from different places of the site
Also each page has an intrinsic authoritativeness mostly based on the number of quality incoming links from outside the site.
Most tools like Ahrefs, Majestic, Semrush and Majestic, try to calculate this to give you an approximate indicator of the OPR of each page. In fact, other crawlers like Ryte also give you a real estimation OPR based on the first factor mentioned
Therefore, is not the same being linked from one category or another... and also is not the same being on a 1 level category or a 4th level sub-category.

If there is a HUGE difference between each linking, think about it. Otherwise, don't waste too much time on this rumination and try to be fast and steady on the decision, otherwise the time spent won't be worthy the difference.
