Anyone know if there any kind of recommended software to run, to be more effective and cost effective with Google Adwords?

I don't think there is anything like that.

Hmm. Maybe not. But I know a lot of professionals have hundreds of clients using adwords.
I can't picture they actually log into and out from each and every account daily.

I know about a company called Finch, which says they "know the value of each click before you purchase it".. I was just thinking if they have some software to optimize, it would be nice to see what kind of software it actually was.

Edit: typo

We manage hundreds of accounts, and usually use the standard online Google Ads interface. With a manager account (MCC) you can access all accounts from one main screen: you don't have to log in & out of each account.

That said, there is a Google AdWords Editor program that you can download from Google, which allows you to download & work on the accounts offline if you want. Sometimes it is useful for handling larger accounts or doing bulk edits. Here is the link: https://ads.google.com/home/tools/ads-editor/

If you're asking about automation software, this is highly dependent upon niche. Often it's only useful for massive accounts or when you don't want to manually assign bids.

I'm one of those professionals managing client accounts. And I have met many other professionals account managers. You'd be surprised how most of them do this.

Logging in and out of accounts is not a problem, not when you have a MCC account. But I have run into agencies who don't have one and some have never heard of it.

Adwords Editor is a great tool to work offline but I recently talked to a manager who did not know about it.

You are correct. In order to efficiently manage accounts, whether one or hundreds, software tools to help is a requirement. You need something powerful to analyze all the data in countless ways. Here too, I've run into agencies who just don't have the proper tools. Most seem to use Excel which is inadequate to truly reveal insights.

As for myself, I have a background in computer database programming. I have the tools. I know of no commercially available tools but then, having created my own, I haven't looked. My guess is if there are some available, they would not be desktop-based but SAAS.

Sure it's called bid management platform such as Marin.,kenshoo etc. But they usually work on percentage of spend plus flat fee minimum so likely not for you if you just have a small account.

All saas given they continuously run optimization which you could not accomplish on a laptop/PC which is not running all the time.

There are some smaller ones as well or you can use AdWords scripts or automated rules, AdWords editor is just the same as the UI but in a standalone app, not optinization beyond what you can do in the web ui

They are called bid management systems for a reason: they simply adjust bids. Maybe that's what Gomlers is thinking about but that is not what I'm talking about. Changing bids is not managing an account. Proactive testing and refinement is. That's the only way to improve, not changing bids all the time.

What I'm talking about is software that does analysis and points out, “this ad is under performing, you should do something” or “this extension is not performing well” or “this keyword should not be used, have you considered using this keyword instead?”

Discussion for something that doesn't even exist. Just give it up and move forward.
