Depression getting in the way... Advice?

Look into Pomodoro technique to improve attention span
Maybe you need a break

@Snowbabe It may sometimes be due to a mere lack of some vitamin and / or mineral. You may take 1 multi-vitamin multi-mineral capsule daily (preferably the type that also contains ginseng).
I've never had depression, but the above really helped a friend of mine who had depression.

I find listening to positive music and tv really makes a difference, slipknot is great but when your down it hits you harder than you think. Going for a walk everyday also helps get you in a great state of mind.

pump up with positives and it won’t fix it but it does make a major impact in the right direction

also take vitamin d it’s the happy vitamin

Treat it as a disease and continue to seek professional medical advice. Don’t give up after just a few times. It can be hard to find a well trained doctor.
If you have a big academic research medical center near you try to find a clinic there, since they are usually up on the latest treatment protocols and technology

You still need professional help though. Taking medical advice from here is not gonna help.
Good luck!!

I'm dealing with the same issue , doctors don't know shit or either when u go seek pro help they feed u pills. I think u probably should stop giving a fuck about what don't matter. Sending you my prayers, hopefully u get through it.

Hi,
I have suffered depression too. Before, I was very productive and do know what to do.

I noticed I was not meeting deadlines. Thankfully, my girlfriend is a medical student. She will advice me from time to time about the scientific ways of the human mind.

I do not believe at depression when I was younger as I always get what I want.

Now that things are not going well, it really changed me.

The trick with doing it the medical way is you still have to do research. Not all doctors yield the same results.

Just remember to always focus on the things you can control

Get tested for ADHD, a lot of project starters and non-finishers put their burst of inspiration that follows with disappointment, distraction and exhaustion to depression.
But studies are showing that doctors are prescribing SSRI's when really they should be prescribing adderall and other stimulants.

Thats why if you find coffee "helps" to get the ball rolling (and then obviously every negative caffeine side effects messes the day up) then try getting hold of a doctor, and he will ask you a few questions to let you know which meds are appropriate.

A lot of the time with ADHD, not finishing project after project has a damaging effect on your mentality, causing depression anxiety etc...

Hey Snowbabe,

after approx. 30 years of depression experience I consider myself nearly a kind of pro in this area.

Yes, everything that was written helps. exercise helps, meditation helps, nice music helps, but only beside a good drug therapy accompanied by a good psychiatrist.

With no energy at all, you can do none of those ideas mentioned above. You stay there staring at the wall, not even realising your kids around you. And if, you don't care.

During the last 30 years we have changed several drugs, cause sometimes they "just don't work anymore" I never had negative experience with SSRIs, we just switched from one to the other, when one did not work anymore.
Beside that I always had sth. to push me.

My actual beakfast is 3 coffee, 2 cigarettes, 300mg Bupropion and 40mg Fluoxitin and I am feeling really good. - until the next change, but this will be in some years. For now, everything is fine.

I've had depression for a really long time, despite the fact, I've always managed to keep moving forward... Now that I'm getting amazing opportunities (after putting the effort) it's getting in the way and I don't know what to do about it. I tried getting professional help twice and that didn't work... what's bothering me is that I can't even concentrated for 10 mins straight and it's frustrating... Anyone has any useful advice?

Why did the professional help not work? I suggest you try that again.
Lack of concentration is an attention issue not a depression issue, this are different categories. This is why I suggest trying the professional help again.
I doubt that BHW can get anyone helped with psychological issues. Good luck!
