I've had depression for a really long time, despite the fact, I've always managed to keep moving forward... Now that I'm getting amazing opportunities (after putting the effort) it's getting in the way and I don't know what to do about it. I tried getting professional help twice and that didn't work... what's bothering me is that I can't even concentrated for 10 mins straight and it's frustrating... Anyone has any useful advice?

look into nootropics. modafinil for concentration.

edit - take vitamin d daily, magnesium (at least half of US population is lacking magnesium in their diet), fix your diet, start exercising and minimize alcohol consumption where possible. First take care of your body then the mind will follow

Exercize, healthy lifestyle and professional counseling. Trust me, do not take advice from forums about the clinical stuff.

Also I think medical is banned on the forum, but I meant this post with all the best intentions so mods pls remove if not allowed.

put goals in your life , exercise 4 times/week and you will be better.

Best regards
Thanks!

Thank you for the advice!

Ohh I had no idea, yeah, if this post is not allowed please remove.

Take a shower, even multiple times a day, whenever you feel
it is comming.

Concentrate on your breath when you loose focus.

Move arround, exercise, run or just walk outside.

Talk to someone close or call them by phone, or simply
call specialized phone number for that.

Long walk far away from home to regain your concentration.
Cry if you feel like crying.

Its just temporarry state and you know that for sure.

Seek professional medical advice from a doctor (once again).
Your thread title has the word "advice".
And as latest BHW rules, seeking and providing medical advice is against BHW rules.
I understand that sharing a medical related journey that impacts work is allowed.
However seeking advice on a medical issue (see your thread title) is not allowed as per latest BHW rules.
Please pardon me for mentioning this.

Meditation, it will be tough, you are going to fail again and again but keep trying and it will solve your problem once for all.

I’ve used St. John wort supplement along with magnesium and l-theanine in the past when dealing with a period of depression.

But that only those so much, find someone close to talk to that you can be vulnerable with. Best of luck

Thanks for letting me know, I had no idea it wasn't allowed... and with advice I meant how to concentrate and stay productive with work while suffering from depression; not a cure for depression.

Is there a way I can change it?

1.Check your Hormonal Levels.
2.Take Cold Shower for 5-10 Mins twice a day.
3.Start eating good and quality foods, Ditch Junk.
4.Hit the Gym, Workout improves your mood, stabilises it and fixes hormonal imbalance as well.
5.Take Professional help, Don't be afraid of it. And if needed and suggested by the Doctor, Take Anti-Depressants only if you are prescribed for it (I have been there a month ago and it works like a charm if combined with all the points I mentioned)
6.Don't overwork, And don't force yourself.
7.Spend time with Friends and Family as well.
8.Meditation - 15 to 30 Mins a day is enough.
9.Don't forget to go on a vacation 1-2x a year, It helps so much actually.

Similar issues. I use caffeine pills because I can't get Moda,
but caffeine makes me even more depressed.

Any combo that works?

Got the same problem, SSRIs and daily exercise helped focusing on things a bit. You should maybe see a doctor and do some research related to depression and loss of focus /motivation.

I know the feeling. You want something and when you have it, you want to get rid of it. You feel no happiness, no sadness, just this empty void.... I can feel you. I would recommend you to accept the nothingness of this world and how meaningless this world is. Once you accept that, you will be at ease.
