Dentist Method - Reversed - My Journal

I just thought of an awesome twist on this idea.. But it's not THAT ethical, so I'll put it in my.. "ideas to do that will make lots of money but a little bit shady" list

Basically, chose keywords that you know has little traffic and no competition. for example "florists in south london" that has 40 results in quotes, the CPC of "florists south london" is $3.44, which you can see I didn't put "in" in. Then I shall do what OP did, sell it to them via direct mail :)

Tell them that 590 (which it tells me on awords..) people are searching this every month @ $3.44, that would cost them $2,029 a month! I'll give you a redirect/ ad/ sell website for XXX a month.

But I have so much else on so...

Put them in the USPS Priority pack and send 1st class... :)

How were you able to mail a Priority Mail package using 1st class? I've asked about his before from the post office and they told me it's not possible. If I'm using the marked Priority envelopes I have to do priority mail fees. How did you get around this?

Anyone else been able to accomplish this at their location?

So you basically used google places to find the list of companies in the niche? I wish I could cash on this method. Thanks though for the method.

I am not sure, my wife handled all of that, she mails them from work so it costs me nothing to mail. :)

Anyway, I have an UPDATE
Just got an email reply from one of the packets, I know it was from a packet and not an email because they replied via my website. The emails I sent from my personal account.

He asked some simple questions: How much for your existing site, how much to rank these: (then he listed FIVE SITES)

SO I did not give him a price, I played sort of cat and mouse with him and asked him some more questions such as do you use adwords? (which I am 99% sure he does that is how I got my leads for the mailing) how much do you spend? Are you getting results etc..?

I also gave him a screenshot of my traffic (around 40 UV per day) and told him at $9 per click this traffic has a value of $360 p/day or almost $11,000 p/month.

The way I was able to stall was to ask what "other" keywords are you targeting, when I get all of the info I will give you a package deal.

Let's see how this plays out.

Nice job. You mentioned you used the Google Places letter to send out with your packets. How did you modify it since you did not include a copy of their ads from the magazines, but targeted those doing Adwords and not ranking on the 1st page of the SERPs?

Did you mention anything about them using Adwords or how you found their sites in the letter?

Exactly, intead of opening with "how is your ad in xyz doing" I opened with how is your current adwords campaign doing? I then ad a little info how organic listings not only get more clicks but have a much higher ROI. I then kind of stick it to them by asking "why are you paying for adwords when you can rank on page 1 organically?" However don't be mislead, I sent out 13 letters and so far just 1 reply and while it is a decent rate of reply (8-9%) its not like ihave had 13 inquiries yet. Hopefully I can close this deal. Waiting to hear back still.

Each letter is what? $0.50 to send out, and if we consider all costs, we'd include the paper and the gas to go and mail them out. So $0.75 a piece. So what's that? $15 for 20? Let's see how the results are.

OP's UPDATE: I was contacted today by TWO companies both interested in my services.

Just so you know, I will rent this site or sell it to ONE company only. I dont want to get monthly income from multiple accounts as its harder to land multiple and it doesnt add that much value to these businesses.

This is an easy way in to meet with the local companies because they can see that we are doing the work correctly. Now, I am writing up an official proposal which will entail about $5k worth of services I think they could benefit from (plus monthly residual in certain products I sell)

Think about this though, the letters I sent were NOT priority but they were a very well written letter. BE AUTHENTIC PEOPLE! thats the key

Upon further note, I will not share my letter as its not a cookie cutter letter that will help you land sales. You need to write one yourself based off the dentist method to get the most out of this.

lets run the numbers though. - 5 days (minus the weekend) so 3 business days for two people to respond. That's pretty damn fast, they must be hungry.

2/17 replied ( so far ) - That's a 11.6747% RESPONSE RATE for services in the ballpark of $2-5k.

I will update when I let you know how much actual money was made.

BTW, my response is going to be serious! I am creating a multi-page PDF with company graphics, address, pricing. This thing will be laid out like a corporate contract.

Pricing at the end, beautiful examples of work, information I learned from being an internet marketer...the works.

"70% of people search for their local products and services online before ever stepping outside their door, can you be found online" ---that kind of stuff

Hey,
I do something similar but then with dentists, and now I am #2, page 1. Do you think I can start contacting dentists of should I wait untill I hit #1?

Contact them now, do your research on these companies though.

Scrape yellow pages and get a business list to go through.

Excellent stuff here. Continue keeping us updated. I've just launched sites in 10 different cities in another niche (no, I'm not going to tell anyone what), and am ranking #1 for some of my keywords in just a week or so. I've been trying to decide on my best selling method - direct mail, phone salesmen, etc. I'll definitely be checking back in on this thread, and updating with any tips I may stumble upon.

Nice to know this style works, I was planning on buying 4 emd sites for a local niche and optimizing all 4 of them because there's about 10 companies here that could use all 4 domains.

I was going to try to sell them a monthly SEO plan for ~$600/month that would include redirecting all the sites to their domain and other SEO stuff. I would probably try to keep ownership of the domains though, just so if they try to screw me I have some leverage.

Best part is that the niche is something where you get a customer and you've got big $$$, almost like gym memberships. 1 customer is worth $20-100/month profit for them. My selling point would be that to make up my fee I'd only have to get them between 6-30 customers from the 4 search terms that add up to 2000+ exact per month.

You guys think they would bite on my sales pitch?

Thanks for letting me know this style works and giving me some inspiration to actually do it. To the batmobile!

That's a great idea!

I'm doing something similar now trying to sell one of my sites.

My site is about micro credits, high CPC. I earn about 2-3€ a day with this site by adsense only (30-60 unique visits a day). I want to sell it, but don't know how to do that, with 301 redirect or domains transfer, I think redirect is much easier and don't require webmaster knowledge from the other part BUT the effect would not be the same and might drop in ranks...

What do you think?
I already sold some advertisement spots but for 150€/month only, this time I want to sell the entire site for ever or 1 year/ever 301 redirect for +1000€

Subscribed ;)

QuiGloriam redirects have always been a bit of grey area as you don't want to drop in SERP's.

I have been informed that the best way to go about it is by using iFrame and here is a neat WP plugin that might come in useful, WP Site Frame.

I am not connected with the product nor have I tried it but seems it may help you.

Great Job!

@OP amazing this is what I wanted to do for a long time but wasn't really getting any motivation about this. Good luck for you though..will be following you on this thread.

Don't forget to share how it goes...:)

The beauty of this is since I am already on the first page I send them one letter. One single piece of paper that I wrote up explaining in SIMPLE terms. I dont use word they won't understand nor will I bore them with too many specifics at first.

Like all business.....sometimes you have to come off as confident. If you HAVE WHAT THEY WANT you dont need to write 4 pages of documents with xyz...let them contact you and then give them what they ask.

Good question.

I choose the companies with very little research but there WAS research.

First i scrapped yellow pages. Then I CALLED to say "hey are you still at 501 w. bull st?" this will save myself a stamp as 20% of yellow page listings is incorrect.
