demographic bidding on ysm

lets say a keyword is worth $1.00/click and I'm targeting 35 and over. Should I bid $0.01 and adjust my bid on 35 and over by +$0.99 so I'm targeting 35 and over only? Anybody ever used this feature on ysm? Thanks for the input in advance
