Democracy Is an Illusion?

Do you think that all the big countries are controlled by some group like an organisation in Men in Black movie?

And these people remain same no matter who is elected as president or prime minister.

Basically, Democracy is an illusion in these big countries?

I know that in some countries, democracy is just by name. The entire decisions are made by corporations and mafia. But i still believe that Democracy is the best way to Govern. In democracy, you have the power to stand up for your rights and the wrong policies. Dictatorship is much worse.

If not, why would you think its fake; unless you noticed the recent years on how groups call democracy card for their gains.
I think democracy is scary and could lead to anarchy; that does not mean I support the other views either.
Pretty sure most citizens in the world prefer technocracy...but that too has risks.
