Iam learning Delphi over this week, since am fed up with the buggy and bloated .net classes, specially the system.net fucking my balls out. I need few pointers. I found the IDE license Delphi XE starter costs around $1500, which is a bit high , considering MS gives you VS express for free. I want to know if there are some Open Source alternatives to this. Would love to know what fellow Delphi programmers are using. I found a couple of OS projects like project Jedi etc but not sure how effective they are. Would love to hear a feedback from the BH community before putting my hands into it.
Go to Torry.net or delphi.about.com, you'll find there a lot of info. I don't know about Delphi XE, i just have my old Delphi 7 with a lot of stuff, although, the main reason of still working on Delphi 7 is because i don't want to migrate to a better version and bother with all the errors i get from migrating. 4 years doing Delphi, if you have any questions let me know.
